Did any of you know it is the international year of quinoa and water cooperation? And next year, we will have year long celebrations for family farming and crystallography.

I just made my 5.000 post. It was a regular one. Although, later this summer, I promise to share with you a piece of story of my life. I am sure you will find it interesting. Meanwhile let’s celebrate my 5.000 posts and all I have done in these years. I managed to keep alive the forum by creating original and at time controversial threads, I offered interesting insights and push you to see things from different corners, I created some turmoil and got into several cyber fights while keeping a certain style. In any case all this contributed to keep this place and interesting place. I also made nudity and sex topic more acceptable breaking incompressible taboo. Some of my predictions were taken in consideration by the administration. I think between ups and downs I made an awesome job!!

They frame it as what does the internet do to people, but it's not the internet as much as it is saturation of information without concentration and reflection.

you can see it with TV before the internet. Things like five news channels and documentary channels and ectect.

You see it in activist communities too, where people seem to get activism ADHD. Every new report of a problem scrambles the brains and disrupts momentum toward making things better.

Anti psychotics?

I've been on anti psychotics since 1999 for getting psychotic episodes caused by something that was stupid that happened in my life which I won't go into detail. What I wanna know is have I been on them to long and should I come of them now, I'm thinking of seeing the doctor soon, what do you think I should say to him? Are these things bad for you?

France gay marriage: Hollande signs bill into law

France's president has signed into law a controversial bill making the country the ninth in Europe, and 14th globally, to legalise gay marriage.

On Friday, the Constitutional Council rejected a challenge by the right-wing opposition, clearing the way for Francois Hollande to sign the bill.

He said: "I have taken [the decision]; now it is time to respect the law of the Republic."

The first gay wedding could be held 10 days after the bill's signing.

But Parliamentary Relations Minister Alain Vidalies told French TV he expected the first ceremonies to take place "before 1 July".

Bill Gates regains title of world's richest man

Bill Gates is back on top of the world again. Or at least on top of the list of the world's richest people, where your net worth has to be well above $55 billion to be in the club.

Gates is co-founder of tech giant MIcrosoft, based in Redmond, Wash. He regained the title after Microsoft shares, up 28% so far this year, closed at a five-year high Thursday for the second time this week.

Gates has donated $28 billion of his fortune to the 14-year-old Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which he and his wife and fellow billionaire Warren Buffett operate as one of the world's wealthiest philanthropic organizations.

Gates, 57, hasn't been No. 1 on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index since 2007 and his fortune, valued at $72.7 billion, is up 15% year to date. Less than 25% of his fortune is held in shares of Microsoft, maker of Windows -- the world's dominant PC operating system.

Gates recaptured the honor from Mexican investor Carlos Slim, 73, who has watched the value of the shares of his America Movil decline 14% this year. America Movil is the largest cellphone carrier in the Americas and its stock price drop has slashed some $3 billion from the telecom tycoon's net worth.

The Future of Invasive Species

With a globalized culture, invasive species are becoming a massive problem, and wreak havoc on just about every ecosystem they encounter.

Such things include kudzu vines in the Southeast that choke entire forests, anacondas in Florida that have been known to eat native alligators, stinkbugs on the East Coast...

ARGAHGRHGRHAGRHRGHARGHAGRHARGALARKLAAGHRGHARGARHGRLHAGHR I HATE STINKBUGS.

Is there anything we can try to do? Since they obviously excel in their environment without natural predators, will they speciate in the far future to make ecosystems of their own? Or will they continue to consume everything like wildfire (Or in the STINKBUGS' case, making the air constantly smell like shit) until nothing is left for them to consume, and get snuffed out in the barren aftermath of their rampant destruction?
