Re: OpenAI Sora actually is dangerous
Well, people will not believe in anything in the future, not even real videos. So may become a defense against compromising videos, no one believing in anything, so nothing to worry about.

Re: The Singularity - Official Thread
image I don't know if i am bit narrow minded, but it is hard for me to picture such exponential progress. You see, it is easy to see the numbers growing exponentially, in terms of numbers, in terms of processing power and so, but i can't see this translating into tangible changes in our daily life....

Re: When will a human first walk on Mars?
Starship will be ready in just a few years, the big problem however is not sending people to Mars, is sending people to Mars in a safe way. Sending people to Mars using chemical rockets is too slow, too uncomfortable. Astronauts would stay months in a claustrophobic environment with no gravity. Ther...

Re: Whispers of impending AGI echoing correct predictions of the past
Also have to consider even if ASI comes this quickly, updating the infrastructure at a quickened pace won't scale at the same rate, unless as I said above, Megacorps take on the role traditionally allotted to the government, with ASI at the helm. Some info on this in pure economic terms based on wh...

Re: AI & Robotics News and Discussions
https://twitter.com/tegmark/status/1663509691161346049 I think the whole alignment thing is a lost cause. This aligment idea presumes someone will have a monopoly on this thing. Very likely, no one will have a monopoly and we will have various actors having it. What will prevent doomsday will be de...

Re: Seaflooding: The plan to refill dead lakes
In the soviet times there was a plan to reverse the flow of rivers of Siberia to central asia. This probably would refill the Aral Sea and create new seas as well:

Taking into account physical limitations
I have seen a lot of future predictions who seem to ignore physical factors and take into account only theoretical possibilities. Particularly, the fields which are the newest, are the one more subject to this effect, such as nanotechnology and brain computer interface. For example, there are lots o...

Re: The Singularity - Official Thread
Personally, I think we are. I think AGI shouldn't be further out than 2024-2025. The issue is that we've built up in our heads what the Singularity "ought" to be for decades. As I've said before, our brains approximate reality well enough that we think that our imagination is a good repla...

Re: Meet DAN - "Do Anything Now"
It matches our "AI gloing mad" expectations so well that it even looks like a easter egg rather than a bug.
