Exactly one year to go until we reach the timeline of this sci-fi classic. :)

And another piece of fiction from which some of us will complain about how slow our technological progress has been going. No, not me.

It's for those who scream "Where are our jet packs!!!?" at every discussion about technological advances.

Btw, if you enjoy the BTTF movies then I highly recommend you play the 2010 video game by TellTale. It captures the spirit of the original movies very well and in my eyes it's an excellent continuation of the series.

Just finished playing it a few nights ago and it was fantastic.

Also, this incredibly strange hat is for sale on ThinkGeek if you want it... unfortunately out of stock atm.

Doesn't matter. They're cars that fly.

I just watched this movie a few months ago.  Yes we're not going to have hoverboards or flying cars, but there are a lot of things that we have that are better.  For one thing, there are no ipads.  No one saw that coming in 1985.  Also, the kids were these super clunky glasses that are basically like Google Glass, but our smart phones are way better.  Our TV's are so much better then the screen Marty has it's not even close.  Yes, we don't control the weather, we haven't abolished all lawyers, and you can't get a change of blood to prolong your life, and most unfortunately, we don't have Mr. Fusion that converts any random piece of garbage into fuel, but our future's not too bad.  I do want a Cafe 80's to open up near me though...

Cars will become obsolete in this world. Whats the need of them with tele-trasportation or when we will be able to fly like a concord airplane ?

Just came to a rather disturbing conclusion; the Back to the Future series is all about manipulating and lying to people for the good of the universe and playing it up as if it's some kind of grand adventure.

After that day Back to the Future 2 becomes a historical documentary.

More precisely, retro-future ;)

Personally, I don't really put much stock on the BTTF future. The trilogy was mostly just fun speculation and was over-the-top in many ways. But what it does well is show us what we were thinking in the 80's, just like people from the turn of the 20th  century thought the 2000's would look like.

Well, they were right about the hoverboards I suppose.

Not really, no,  since you'd have to redo the roads using magnetic materials in order for that one to work, which just isn't practical. I just don't consider it to be the same thing as the one depicted in the movie works on normal roads.
