The thread title speaks for itself.

Firstly, i must admit, i'm a big fan of Google street view. When i have nothing else to do online, i love to "travel" in street view mode & able to stuck there for hour or two...

Secondly, this all was partially inspired by weird question of Frizz:

do they even have shopping malls in russia?

There were already threads about "your real photo", so i hope no one will consider this too personal or unacceptable. After all, I don't even ask you to post a link to your house, just a neighbourhood, to get the idea of who and how are living...

To start, here is mine:

https://maps.google....3,,0,-0.88&z=17

With special bonus (two closest shopping malls):

...Why wouldn't there be shopping malls in Russia?

"Liberterianism is a mental disease. A national health crisis and a threat to the future of this country...Worse than the threat from terrorism, asteroids, disease and yes global warming.
It is mindless anti-government idiocy. If it isn't turned back I predict the end of this country as a world power. Simply put the need to educate our entire population like any sane country is sen as wrong by the cult that practice this foolish idiocy. So is simple workers rights, child labor and every other sane policy of the modern world."

I didn't say there weren't any shopping centres in russia, I just didn't know if there were or not.

I thought most russians lived in villages and worked on farms.

This is where I lived from 0 to 9 years old:

https://www.google.c...qKQ!2e0!6m1!1e1

The blue house with a metal colored roof was ours (although our roof was bright red then, the new owners destroyed it). Two words describe the neighbourhood very well: parks and ponds. Parks and ponds everywhere! The address translates to Pondroad 47. A happy place, a happy childhood and fun memories :) The enclosed space is the kindergarten. It was nice having it right next to our house. There was a child or two my age living in pretty much every house on the street and we were all friends so that was great too.

Then we moved to this neighbourhood, where I lived from nine to 18 years of age:

https://www.google.c...ZPg!2e0!6m1!1e1

Again, parks and ponds everywhere! And a lake! Good times! The address translates to Gladeroad. The park is called Pondpark  It used to be called Airplanepark since it used to have this huge, metal airplane-climbing-thing for kids, but then they renovated the playground :( The best neighborhood in the world in my opinion, although it has a.. how do you say it.. a slummish reputation in my city.  Lots of alcoholics live here. Some people think that it's a violent neighborhood, but it's actually very peaceful.

Since then I have lived in four different apartments on my own. Currently I live here:

https://www.google.c...7df2489!6m1!1e1

Engineer's Street in Hervanta! (although we young people call it Herwood) A nice district, lots of students and immigrants. It's about 8km from the centrum (and that's a lot in Finland ) but it has basically everything you need; lots of bars and restaurants, a nightclub, a shopping centre, a library, swimming baths, a movie theater, banks and stuff. That's why I like the place, you really don't have to visit downtown that much. Herwood too used to have this shady reputation. People used to think that it's a place where lots of crimes happen, which is not true. And again, lots and lots of parks, ponds and lakes.

But... I'm currently looking for a new place. I have this thing to constantly move somewhere else. I usually get bored if I live for too long in the same place. The longest time I've had an apartment was about 4 months.

Cool thread! Was fun to look back to the old days. I also like Google street view. We used to play this game where you choose a random location in street view and you have to find the nearest Alko, which is the national booze retailing monopoly in Finland

Edit: added some stuff

I don't want to disclose my neighbourhood for obvious reasons as pointed above, but I'll happily show you guys my neighbourhood in libya.

I never knew how hard it was to find my nieghbourhood in Libya, holy shit.

Oh, I can just search for mosques because I remember each mosque near my family's house.

Nope, I can't recognize any of em.

Ha there's a street in libya named "Pepsi Cola Rd": https://www.google.c...m/data=!3m1!1e3

Oh crap, I'm getting back memories! There was a KFC like store me and my father got some chicken from. It looked really nice and it reminded me that Libya wasn't a shitty country as I cut it out to be.

I found it! Well, not really. I found my house but there's no google street view of it, so I just took a photo from a street reaallllyyy close by my house in Libya.

My neighborhood is not visible in Google Street View.

That's a shame :/ Surely it's on Google Maps, though.

Woman, boy, rusty metal fence, billboards... how this all related to communism?

Perhaps i'm just a bit stupid today...

I was focusing on the billboards, and people with shopping bags.

EDIT: And they aren't starving!
