Looking great, I love the use of the whole tunnel thing as Coming Soon.

Just some ideas for the homepage layout -

http://www.pasttimel...mepage-plan.jpg

I want a kind of Flash slideshow at the top, with some nice big images that you can scroll through, or which automatically slide themselves every few seconds.

There will be 7 "slides", each linking to the sections I mentioned earlier.

Looking brilliant! As close as possible to Future Timeline would be brilliant, just with a different colour scheme maybe. Looking forward to seeing how this develops!

Perhaps it could be more red, as opposed to FT's blue. Think about it; the future is coming toward's us, so it's blue shifted, the past is steadily moving away from us, so it's red shifted.

^ Thanks. :)

There will be 7 main sections. Each of these will be further sub-divided:

Timeline of natural history (13.7 billion years BC – 200,000 BC) Timeline of human prehistory (200,000 BC – 3500 BC) Timeline of ancient history (3500 BC – 499 AD) Timeline of the Middle Ages (500 – 1499) Timeline of early modern history (1500 – 1899) Timeline of modern history (1900 – 2013) Timeline of the future (a few selected extracts from FutureTimeline.net, with a link to the main website)

Take the 2000-2013 part that has happened from "future timeline". This can be the start of this....

You should expand a little more on this too ;)

Interesting idea, I like it.

The modern history TL can start from 1914 instead of from 1900, since 1914 and beyond brought about much more changes much faster than the pre-1914 period did.

But 1900 is just an easier number. Better to start from the start of the century, rather than midway through.

Fair enough, I guess, though from a historical perspective, the change between 1913 and 1914 is much more significant than the change from 1899 and 1900 and from 1900 to 1901.

I completely agree that it should have a red colour scheme, in fact that's how I've always imagined it, as being red. Also, when Past Timeline is launched, would it make sense to split 'The History Forum' into more specific sections to discuss the past, and possibly change the name of the forums from the Future Timeline Forum to just the Timeline Forum?

Can anyone suggest a good font/typeface to use for the main logo/banner?

Something "historical" or important looking. :)

I think Cabazon would be the ideal font for the logo!

EDIT: Test it out here to see what you think: https://typekit.com/...zon#type-tester

I dunno... it could be kinda cheesy to go for the old-timey newspaper look.  What about something that looks old, or ancient, without looking historical?

Those fonts both look very 2010s-style 'rough' to me. Doesn't really look old to me, more modern.

Hmmm.  Yeah, I hear you.  I was thinking "ancient" as opposed to just "old"... something that evokes the ice age instead of the renaissance.  That's why I was looking for something rough, or faded--I was thinking about print found on a 10,000 year old half-burnt papyrus scroll.  That kind of motif would fit better with WJ's cave picture, as well.  What about this one?

^That one is pretty good. I could imagine that as the font for the logo quite well! Either that or an old-fashioned 'handwriting' style font.
