Foreign hackers targeted U.S. water plant in apparent malicious cyber attack, expert says
By Ellen Nakashima
Foreign hackers caused a pump at an Illinois water plant to fail last week, according to a preliminary state report. Experts said the cyber-attack, if confirmed, would be the first known to have damaged one of the systems that supply Americans with water, electricity and other essentials of modern life.
Companies and government agencies that rely on the Internet have for years been routine targets of hackers, but most incidents have resulted from attempts to steal information or interrupt the functioning of Web sites. The incident in Springfield, Ill., would mark a departure because it apparently caused physical destruction.

HM, Iran, Taliban (do they have computers or know what hacking is?),Russia, China, who knows, would be interesting if Israel was behind it, wonder how US would react to that, would they still consider Israel an Ally?
Anyways, who ever was behind clearly hates America enough to do harm it by trying to commit this callous act of cowardliness.

It sounds like the protection software they stole is common in the US for things like train operations, power grids, etc. Scary stuff.
Anyone get this reference?

US officials have cast doubt over reports that a water pump in Illinois was destroyed by foreign hackers.
The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security said they had "found no evidence of a cyber intrusion".

Not at all. But Investigation still underway...
The Department of Homeland Security and FBI today dismissed the conclusions of a report that a cyber intrusion caused a pump at an Illinois water utility to burn out. But the statement doesn't explain why an Illinois state terrorism intelligence center would say it was a hacker when it wasn't.

A hacker did claim responsibility but DHS denied it was him. Israel wouldn't hack into US computers are you serious??? And yes Iran and Taliban knows what hacking is! Unless if that was a joke. Taliban actually are involved in a number underground computer networks and are pretty good at getting hackers on their side.
