The USA is currently a traditional republic whereas we elect all officials to make almost all votes for us except in municipal laws. Some states have the right to petition to create a public referendum on a voters ballot. I wonder if all states will gain this right over time and then as we educate ourselves and gain more free time what is the point anymore for congress itself. I imagine a world where we vote on laws and administrators to be allowed to veto the laws on all levels of government. The end game is alot of voting being the reason this may never happen. The original bottleneck I believe was there wasn't sufficient technologies for communication to create a fast enough system. I admit I know little about this subject and look to you for advice.

I'm hanging out for an ochlocracy, where the majority of the people rules rather than an elected official. I like to call it; maioritocracy, coming from maioritas; the latin word for majority since ochloc is just so damn ugly!

Horrible idea, as majority of the people are idiots. And idiots that you could manipulate with tv propaganda. I once had exactly same view - with modern technology we could vote every day on important things, therefore getting real, true democracy. But then I've realised how disastrous it would be.

So who is declared an idiot? This is the problem with that line of thinking Freedom either equals everyone or no one. There cannot be any special interests.

There's no equality in true democracy. If majority says we should kill black people, they are killed, noone gives a shit about equality. Majority rules, minority is fucked.

Yeah, it could only work if everyone was as well-informed and educated as the next person. Otherwise people could vote on issues that they are completely ignorant of and this could lead to disastrous results. And what if the voter can be influenced by corporate interests, incentives or other methods which could influence a vote? I know that this can still happen but, despite my inherent mistrust of politicians at least you can keep an eye on that small number, whereas trying to keep tabs on the entire population could be far more difficult.

On the other hand, I'm guessing that voting would be optional, and there's every chance that those same people may not vote...
All right, brain. You don't like me and I don't like you, but let's just do this and I can get back to killing you with beer.
