I am new and want to contribute my thoughts to this stimulating topic and brilliant portal of information about the future. There is obviously much focus about technological advancement which is incredibly absorbing and fascinating and I find it particularly interesting when it comes to AI and human intelligence and the concept of consciousness itself.

What I want to focus on for discussion and exploration is the both natural evolution of human consciousness and AI.

We tend to look to the future of technological advancement with and open mind and acceptance that it is a natural exponential progression, which it will be. However what we then tend to do is apply current limited thinking and paradigms to this evolved environment. We apply a projected an un-evolved sense of our limited understanding of ourselves as we are now, in a less enlightened state of being than we will be in the future.

I believe that one of the key factors that is overlooked is our progressive state of evolving enlightenment which will run in parallel with the exponential curve of technological advancement. The two cannot be separated.

The one curve reflects a timeline of the progression of ignorance (lack of awareness) toward intelligence (awareness) and its parallel represents the timeline of the progression of fear (lack of awareness) toward love (awareness). History reflects an immense amount of pain and suffering as a result of the fearful ignorance of humanity. Ignorance perpetuates fear just as fear holds one in a state of ignorance. When we merge these two parallel paradigms then we can extrapolate some basic objective observations. Malevolence and ignorance are fear while benevolence and awareness are love. Applying this on an ultra simplistic level then greater awareness will reflect greater love. One cannot then drag the baggage of fear along with heightened awareness (highly advanced future technology), it is not possible. Yet people always seem to do this. One of the classic observations is how we apply advanced technology for future applications by using it for some form of oppression, aggression or warfare or protection against dominance or attack from other humans or even worse, an aggressive more advanced highly intelligent alien life form. This creates a contradiction as this reflects progressive and sophisticated awareness with a progressive fear of malevolence or need for domination control. Most sci-fi movies feature either an advanced malevolent or controlling human society or highly advanced malevolent alien species. Any highly advanced society or species will by the very nature of its evolved state of consciousness be equally evolved in its state of benevolence and love. To me it is such an obvious progression yet it goes unobserved by most. My favorite movie is Avatar which reveals so much about how we are now (malevolent selfish greed). But I believe it is simply not how we will act when we have that sort of sophisticated technology and simultaneous heightened awareness. The Terminator movies are another classic which reflect AI turning on humanity. This is also counter intuitive when the laws of love and awareness are applied to intellectual advancement. Highly advanced AI, the type that would have the level of intelligence to both deceive and outmaneuver humanity would not suffer the ignorance of humanity and with it its fears. Malevolence, deception, greed, suffering, lack, envy and religions are reflections of fear, what is it that these AI machines need fear?… being switched off, so that they are no longer of use? An AI with the ability of a billion people will not suffer the fears of a combined billion people, it will more likely benefit from the grace of a billion people. Unlike those that fear AI, I predict that sufficiently sophisticated AI will be a benevolent form of intelligence that will not suffer the malady of the human mind and infinitely vulnerable human ego with its needs and fears.

All advanced civilizations get to the tipping point and either destroy themselves with their self-imposed and self-manifested fears or they transcend them and move forward. We are at that tipping point as we approach the vertical curve. It is no coincidence that along with the predicted incredible technological advancements we are faced with calamitous environmental catastrophe (fears manifest). Even if we try now with all our might we cannot stop or catch it, it is inevitable as we have already dropped the ball. I believe that there will be a gradual mass extinction period as a result of this and those that fit and adapt to this (survival of the fittest) changing environment will be the future of a new much smaller and benevolent and loving human population, be it on earth or in space. I also believe that we will destroy 90% of the species through our selfish greed (fear) but we will have sufficient grace (love) and vision to create a biodiverse genetic ark of all known species which future generation will use to repopulate the earth once technology has advanced sufficiently. At this point a benevolent AI and surviving humanity will probably combine to heal our beautiful planet. This mass extinction in itself preordained or inevitable as the planet can only house and accommodate so many people and a self regulated constant population will probably emerge for thousand of years to follow.

Just a thought… If in a couple of hundred years AI and human intelligence can morph and advance to point of ‘intelligence processing nearing perfection’ imagine how incredible and sophisticated the collective consciousness of the universe must be after evolving for over 16 billion years!
