So there's this subreddit I used to frequent that I rediscovered today— /r/BadHistory.

Badhistory is a place to facepalm and discuss the particularly dire sorts of history that we encounter on a day-to-day basis. Although we primarily focus on Reddit, history from anywhere is welcome whether it's from school, tv, books, real life conversations, movies, or anything else.
Badhistory is a place to equally learn, and have a good time, with both serious and silly topics!

Not for the faint of heart or the partisan. Expect many things you used to believe to collapse in the face of actual, objective evidence!

For example:

AND LET'S NOT FORGET... THE CHARTS!

Sits in corner, rocking back and forth, desperately trying to collect shattered pieces of my old, comfy world

Brb, I think I'm gonna need blood pressure pills after this. It's scary how many people buy into conspiracy/SJW revisionist history.

Historical revisionism and political spin are so pervasive and aggressive(even in once trustworthy sources of information such as the news, polls, and scientific studies) I think we've just about reached post-truth.

The point where the wise trust anecdotal evidence over mainstream news and popular science when the two conflict.

What a fresh new hell.

Here's a fresh new historical bitch batch!

Capitalists don't want gold: Holodomor was caused by the West

Just because Stalin be don't mean he do. No matter how hard tankies try, they'll never be able to change history to make it so that the Communists Did Nothing Wrong.

The Native Americans were Backward Savages According to Steven Crowder

They literally never progressed passed the neolithic era and were doomed to failure without Europeans, according to this history book I read

Once More, the Evolution of the European Knight

I learned medieval history from cartoons; therefore, this is how it was

User is unhappy with the definition of Facism by the US Holocaust Memorial Museum: "It sounds like it was deliberately crafted to imply that modern day conservatism is fascism..."

"Nazis were far-left socialists" and other fun things that will never be true

Socialism 101, by the American Right

Just an image

"Slavery started in ancient Egypt with the Jews, and only ended in first world civilizations relatively recently."

Flooding first started with Noah's Ark and only ended recently with Hurricane Harvey

The continued badhistory of Neil deGrasse Tyson: Was Arthur C. Clarke the first to calculate altitude of geosynchronous orbit?

I used to respect this man. But then he started learning his history from Sesame Street and last I heard, he was smoking joints talking about how Christianity stopped civilization from arising 10,000 years ago.

"Liberal academics write history how they see fit. I.E.: Nazis being portrayed as right wing."

Why do I have a sneaking suspicion that all the morons that parrot the "Nazis were left-wing socialists" lunacy are not being truthful to themselves about their political alignment? It's almost without fail at this point. For a moment I thought the alt-right crowd was alright, but that was a year ago and I've since picked up on their little games and Orwellian intent.

Aw, I saw this leftist tankie talking about the "so-called" Holodomor yesterday, and they already deleted their comment, rendering the thread kinda odd... dammit!

For some reason, this image really pisses me off.

It's not just the fact that it's blatantly wrong (Christianity didn't set back science, save for a few awful moments that were usually the fault of extremists)— it's also the fact that it's basically saying we were as scientifically advanced in 500 AD as we were in the 1700s, which is so impossibly assbackwards of a statement that it makes me irrationally angry.

It's incredibly Eurocentric at that. One part of Rome falls, and that apparently dooms the world to being stuck on Earth for over 1,500 years. Never mind the fact that most of the innovations needed to get to this point before the Industrial Revolution came from China, Greece, and Persia and they were doing mostly fine, or that it was the Protestant Reformation that led to the cultural mores necessary for the Industrial Revolution to get started in the first place.
