I have to write up an assignment for school, based around the statement; "we don't have a future". Naturally, I'm spilling over a lot of things I've learned of global warming, famine, peak oil and the likes, but I'm stuck on one point.

How much frozen methane is there, which could potentially defrost into the atmosphere. I've read that 8 million tonnes per year are evaporating, but I haven't been able to find how much (likely in cubic kilometers) of methane there is.

Anyone help?
