Hi everyone!

I want to make a suggestion for the timeline. What date do you think that Quantum Computers will enter the homes of most people? Right now, most homes have a regular computer.

I said that in another topic but they thought that common people having quantum computers sound pretty futuristic and utopian, but I personally think that this kind of machine will be commonplace after 2050,and surely will accelerate the pace of innovation and technology breakthroughs...

After all, technology is always evolving and the same will happen with computers...imagine the artificial intelligence that quantum computers will have? And virtual reality?Beyond our imagination...

Hard to say. I know wjfox is looking for suggestions for a 2050 rewrite. Maybe it could be mentioned there.

I think what was said was that traditional computers like the one under your desk would be redundant in the home by this time, people would be accessing and using quantum computers, but it would all be done through the cloud as services.
All right, brain. You don't like me and I don't like you, but let's just do this and I can get back to killing you with beer.

Surely home Quantum Computers will come before 2050.

I don't know. That just seems so far out there having a quantum computer for personal use. Maybe we won't need that much power, or maybe we will.
I thought you were wrong when you said we would have a quantum computer in the home by 2050.

Look what I found.
In April of 2010 the world record for a quantum computer was 14 qubits, here.
In January of 2012 the world record was 84. Here and here.

That is a 500% increase in qubits in 9 months!

Indeed the prediction on quantum computing is that the general trend in qubit acceleration is following Moore's Law for the time being, but it's not how many qubits you have, it's what you do with them - what I mean by that is at present quantum computing relies on seriously low operating temperatures to perform, so you can't just have one 'under your desk' without some serious coolant. But what you can have is server-side services delivered over the web that are far better than any traditional PC.
