Alright, the foundations of this game are simple. It is a turn-based game where every turn represents six months. You can play as a leader of a country. The game is set in 1957, during the height of the Cold War. You do action and the GM (that would be me) is hitting the dices to see the outcomes. You set the goal yourself, though the country with the highest prestige count will win the game.

Anyone onboard?

We need players for the following entities:

The UN (claimed by Livid)

The US (Landsknekt)

The USSR (claimed by drag)

China (claimed by Dalak)

Britain (ctankep)

France (EVANIMATIONS)

But you can also choose other countries (apart from colonies or obvious troll choices such as Bhutan).

North Vietnam (Deadmeat1471)

Israel (Time-Traveller)

South Africa (Mr.Dillham)

RULES

GENERAL

Every Turn represents 6 months

You send your action and receive your budget and research info through PMs. The rest of the stats are public.

DIPLOMACY

NPC (Non-Player Controlled) states can be interacted with. They can either align towards any of the major alliances or powers, towards another country or be unaligned. Their alignment can shift with change of government, improved relations or wars.

You can improve the relations with a country by giving them aid or investments, or try to interact with them in another way.

To invite a country to join a formal defence pact will cost 100 credits.

Countries will vote in the UN General Assembly either according to their alignment, or (if unaligned) their votes will be predetermined by random.org

ECONOMIC

Countries have tax income comparable to population size and GDP

Raise taxes and you will lose popularity amongst the group you are raising the taxes for

Increase social programmes and your popularity will rise amongst the group which you are raising them for

Lower taxes and your popularity will rise amongst the group you are lowering them for

Growth means a positive or negative bonus at the end of every two turns depending on if you have positive or negative growth

Positive growth will mean increased popularity, negative less

Planned economies get a trade penalty, a consumption penalty but a heavy industrial bonus

Market economies get a heavy industrial penalty but a trade bonus and a consumption bonus

Stimulate Production with X amount of money: Improve the short-term employment numbers and economic growth, but possibly worsen the long-term performance of the economy

Reduce tariffs: Increase trade but lower production

Increase tariffs: Increase production but lower trade

Reforms: Specify reforms and they'll have effects, though they may alter your economic system or bring it down in the long run.

INFRASTRUCTURAL

Industrial levels mean increased production and domestic income increases

You need to discover or buy at least 10 new infrastructural technologies to advance an industrial level

+1 Industrial level: -500 credits

SOCIAL

Social programmes lower unrest and can also increase economic growth and research speed, but can affect industrial production negatively

Lowering social programmes to a minimum can adversely affect education and thence research speed.

Banning abortion, contraception and similar will increase population growth, which can increase productivity but also mean long-term social unrest. Allowing abortion and contraception can mean lower population growth and more social stability in the long term.

Dictatorships are better on protecting research facilities from spies and saboteurs, but are worse at innovative or non-military research areas.

Democracies are worse on protecting research facilities from spies and saboteurs, but are better at innovative or non-military research areas.

RESEARCH

Research means the acquisition of new technologies. Instead of focusing on attaining new technologies, you can set the focus of one Research Centre to the following areas where you can harvest discoveries:

Infrastructure

Economics

Social sciences

Agriculture

Military

Nuclear

Space

Computers

Innovation

Building a Research Centre: -500 credits

Setting the focus of a Research Centre: -50 credits

If you have a market or a mixed economic system, you can sell a Research Centre too, for 250 credits.

MILITARY

Military doctrines are creating different strong and weak points of the militaries of the game.

(none): +0 aerial, +0 ground, +0 naval, 100% unit cost, 100% unit maintenance (special technique: none)

Western: +3 aerial, +1 ground, +3 naval, 200% unit cost, 100% unit maintenance (special technique: firepower focus, offensive bonus)

Soviet: +1 aerial, +3 ground, -1 naval, 100% unit cost, 100% unit maintenance (special technique: mobility focus, occupation bonus)

Asian: -1 ground, -1 aerial, -2 naval, 50% unit cost, 25% unit maintenance (special technique: stealth focus, defensive bonus)

It costs 500 credits to apply military doctrines apart from (none) and Asian, which costs 250. You cannot change from one military doctrine from another before first changing to (none). You cannot change military doctrine more than once every tenth turn.

It costs 250 credits to raise military tech level.

Unit cost:

Western: 100 credits

Soviet: 50 credits

Asian: 25 credits

Unit Maintenance Cost:

Western: 20 credits

Soviet: 20 credits

Asian: 5 credits

Military Tech provides +1 attack, +1 defence and +1 speed per level.

NUCLEAR

To get a nuclear level, you must research at least 3 nuclear technologies in your Research Centres.

Every nuclear level costs 250 credits to attain

Level 1: Experimental reactor, Nuclear Tests

Level 2: Nuclear Bomb

Level 3: Nuclear Missiles, Commercial Nuclear Reactor

Level 4: Inter-continental Ballistic Missiles

Level 5: Hydrogen Bomb, Plutonium Bomb

Level 6:

Level 7:

Level 8: SDI (you need to be level 8 on Space too)

Level 9: Tokamak Reactor

Level 10: Experimental Fusion

Level 11: Fusion Reactor

Level 12: Fusion Bomb

SPACE

To get a space level, you must research at least 3 nuclear technologies in your Research Centres.

Every space level costs 250 credits to attain

Level 1: Rockets

Level 2: Satellites

Level 3: Manned Missions outside of Earth

Level 4: Probes

Level 5: Manned expeditions to the Moon

Level 6:

Level 7: Space Station, Space shuttles

Level 8: SDI (You need to be level 8 on Nuclear too)

Level 9:

Level 10: Lunar Colony

Level 11: Manned Expedition to Mars

Level 12:

Level 13:

Level 14:

Level 15: Mars Colony

COVERT

Infiltrate Organisation: -25 credits

Create a civil organisation in another country: -50 credits

Create a political organisation in another country: -50 credits

Create armed organisation in another country: -100 credits

Assassinate leader: -200 credits

Sabotage Research Centre: -200 credits
