Hello.guys! As I've already said here,I've read the timeline many times, and I also thought many times about the possibility of certain technologies drastically alter people's lives.Recently I got a little "disturbed and excited" about the possibility of babies being born in artificial wombs beggining in the year 2053.I think that means a single person will be able to have a child without the need to make sex with another person.

This issue is polemic at my seen because I think that this technology could lead to traditional families(husband, wife and sons) and the need to get married fade altogtheter. If a woman desire to have a baby and have the option of her kid being born in an artificial womb in a lab, this procedure will give her many advantages, like no need to take care of what she eats due to the pregnance,no worry about the pain of childbirth and with artificial wombs a woman could do everything any other woman caan do without the worry and the care of making a life in the belly...

This technology could also help men as well:If he wants to have a son but don't want to marry a woman, this technology will solve his problem...

And this could instead of halting global population levels, estimulating even more its growth. What do you guys think?

Imagine walking in a lab in suddently enter in a room and see this:

Or you guys think this is fucking against nature?

Yeah that whole idea sucks. Just adopt! There are already tons of kids out there living crappy lives, so if you can't have a child, that is where you should go. I also do not think this will make traditional families fade, you can thank divorces for that (yes, you Dad <= He's a lawyer -_-)

The potential mother or father should have the choice to do this.

When reading this all I could think of is Jango Fett having his clone son Boba :p

Could be that he does not want to live with a woman or a (man if homosexual) so the choice is there. Some prefer to love on their own, ''hassle free''.

First off, there is no such thing as a traditional family. What is considered 'traditional' depends entirely on where you are living and what time period you were living in. We don't even have traditional families today. Take a look at this, it says only 7 percent of US families are 'traditional' with a mother who stays home with child, and a father that works.

http://www.prb.org/a...households.aspx

If you go back and look at historical examples of families you see find that the "American dream" family has always just been a dream. It never really existed. Through history we always had different definitions of what families where. So I don't take this as a bad thing at all. People will be healthier and happier and isn't that what is important? Why does any of that other stuff matter?

Also this is likely to help reduce population. More technology and better health makes people have less children and at older ages. If you are a woman and things like this are possible it means there is no rush to have children. If you want to want until you are 50 to have a child, then why not wait? Today it would be bad for the woman's health and for the babies health. In the future it is fine for both. A 50 year old woman has more time, more education and more resources for raising a child and is far more likely to be a better parent than a 20 year old girl.

Well men get the idea that they should have children when they are young so they are still in good enough shape to play football with their children and stuff. Woman get the idea they have to have children at a young age because they can't physically have one when they are older and might die, or the child might have some disability if they wait.

It is easy for a man to wait though, because they can still physically have babies no matter how old they get. If you want to have a baby at 90 it is possible. Not true at all for woman. Woman have a very short time span to have children or it is no longer possible. So technology like this is a really great thing for woman. They can wait much longer, until they have a more stable income and are more educated and stuff and it will allow them to be better parents for it. It is also safer for them as well.

I am male as well but I can already feel the pressure to have children while young. So I got a lot of sympathy for woman who have it a lot worse off.

This is just my opinion - the experience of having children is overrated. Better off staying childless and live forever - you wouldn't want to carry regrets if something bad happened to your children.

I'm a little curious as to why you only say son, rather than child..

I'm sure English is your 2nd language or even 3rd. You still have accompolished more than most people in America who are relegated to "monolingual" status.

I am also fluent in French (thanks to my Canadian upbringing) and American Sign Language.

Anyone else here who knows more than one language? Just curious.

When I was a young child, I spent some time in the Philippines and apparently became fluent in Tagalog, Cebuano (both Filipino dialects) and Hokkien (Chinese dialect). Unfortunately when we moved back to the UK, my mum didn't keep it up with me and I eventually forgot it all. So back to just English now :( I really want to learn Mandarin, Japanese and French though :)

First of all marrige is already becoming obsolate. Moreover I am skeptical about an issue. Years ago Australian scientists made a study to evaluate the possibity to fertilise an egg with cells from any parts of the female body, rather than male sperm. Apperently they replicated the study in many mammels and all they could get was a female child. In no species where able to get a male gender. According to the scientists the same thing would happen on human females.
Here is a similar article about this study:

So you mean that if women get a child born from artificial wombs or artificial insemination in vitro they will be always girls? If it's really true, when the technology arrives there will be a pretty umbalance between genders, with much more girls than boys and then much more women than men in society(That would be great! :) ).

Well I am sure that in the future they will even be able to solve this issue. In the sense that they may be able to create a male with the same technology.
Moreover because I am a womanizer I would be happy to have more female than males lol
But that said I would have headaches at some point lol..I dont think the world will be more peacefull.
Based on some statistics women comitt more domestic violence than men.

But is that true that women are less violent than men?(This question sounds idiot by just wathing TV...)Don't you think that if the world would have more women than men/more women ruling the world it would be a better place to live?

I'm fluent in both English and Dutch and conversational in French.
I also have an adequate understanding of German.

The answer is no. It is just apperance. According to some statistics, women comitt more domestic violence than men and they are also the ones who are more violent towards children.
Dont trust the media because they only report about male violence while they don't report much about female violence. It is becoming more and more an issue. Almost once a month I hear of women killing someone or stalking men or even killing children.
Once there was the convincment that male were more violent because of their phyisical strenght but this dosent mean much today. If a woman has a gun she can do anything, she can even ask another man to beat another man. So phyisical strenght dosent mean much. Moreover many men are victims of female abuses. In court women often claim that their male partners beat them up and only by saying that they get payments and the custody of the children. Men often end in detention. For me this can be consider an abusive behaviour.
I also want you to remember that both in Germany and Italy women were extremely fanatics about their regimes ( nazism and fascim). Often even more than man.
In recent time you should hear some of the speeches of Sarah Palin or Hilary Clinton.

I think a gender balanced world is still ideal.
Women can be only better if they show their mother sentiments towards humanity but this is something rare.

I can't believe anyone is even thinking of the world being a better place without males. Especially coming from a man! That whole idea is sexist and when people finally realize that gender is a physical thing we will finally drop sexism amd racism. Unfortunatly that wont happen for a long long time.
