Might get this one looks good and it's close to Star Trek's time period as well.

I'm not an avid reader, but I do find the occasional gem that I can't help but get stuck into and this looks like one of those. Right up my alley :)

All men dream but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes to make it possible. - T. E. Lawrence

I'm just finishing up the Mars Trilogy, so this is perfect timing. If it's anything similar, I'll love this book.

I've just bought it (a minute or so ago) on my Kindle and will start reading it soon. Still reading Abundance and climate wars though, but I'm pretty excited to get started from what you've been saying.
Also bought the Mars Trilogy and will start reading that soon too. And the singularity is near as well. Going to be occupied for a while

I'm halfway through and really enjoying it. Some very futuristic ideas regarding the colonisation of the Solar System. It also describes a future Earth with sea levels drowning most of New York, etc.

That book cover is amazing!

Anyway, this Mars trilogy intrigues me. But I need more before I decide to read it. Can anyone talk me into it? How's the characterization and storytelling?

Best books I ever read. Basically follows the colonisation of the entire planet, starting from scratch. The word "epic" doesn't really do it justice. You get to see how the terraforming process gradually unfolds, the development of cities and infrastructure, culture and politics, and the conflicts between Earth and Mars, corporations, etc. etc. The whole thing is incredibly believable and realistic, and scientifically accurate. The characterisation is wonderful and you really get to understand, appreciate, and care for the many unique and fascinating characters over the course of their lives. I just can't even begin to describe how wonderful these books are.
