My daughter is turning 1 years old soon, and I want to give her a gift. But I don't really have any money so I'm thinking I'll carve a pan flute for her. I want to colour it green and brown and carve in small animals on it.
I would like to give it to her personally, but her mom doesn't want to know of me and they live in another city. I am saving for a bus ticket.
I wonder why birthday gifts have to cost money.
I mean, for a rich fat motherfucker to give away a new stereo or a flat screen is easy, but poor people who borrow money to buy shitty presents to their relatives are often met with dislike. I think we would solve all of that if we could make it so that people have to put some effort into birthday gifts by making the gifts themselves.
Then we would see who really cares.

A toy she can't choke on. Given your criminal behavior jacking one from Toys-R-Us should be easy, however, if you want your 1 year old to legally have fun just get a rattle or a toy that makes noise.
I wouldn't spend more than $5 on it either since she will probably slobber on it and throw it aside.

Like they always say, it's the thought that counts. People give each other as expensive presents as they can afford to show how much they mean to each other, by how much effort it took to get the money to buy the present, so a car from a rich parent means as much as a boardgame from a poor parent, or a hand-made present. Seriously, if you make your present by hand, it shows that you care about your child more than you care about making money for yourself, that you care enough to take the time and effort to make a present. It seems to me like a really nice thing to do, and it can be something that she'll treasure for years.
I don't really know you or your daughter, so I can't ask you to give her a happy birthday from me, but I will ask you to give her a really big happy birthday from you instead.
