"ScienceDaily (June 4, 2012) — Researchers from North Carolina State University have developed a technique to efficiently divide the bandwidth of the wireless spectrum in multi-hop wireless networks to improve operation and provide all users in the network with the best possible performance."

This new system that is being tested at a University will allocate a channel's width based on what user's are doing. This will be dynamic so it allows internet users to all get a similar speed while using the wifi.
This is a good start, but what I want even more is for routers to either have more channels, or find some way to incorporate this kind of technology with something else to reduce interference.
I live in a neighborhood with other people and during midday the interference is so bad I just started using a wired connection.
Of course if you are away from houses you don't get as good internet so a middle ground has to be found.
