I was wondering when the next Ice Age will be in the centuries to come as it isn't shown on the FutureTimeline site. Here is a Link to show it.

With global warming affecting the climate cycle so dramatically we are likely to start seeing ice ages much much more frequently, on the scale of every 40 to 50 years. Eventually it could even be one every year which in essence would just be like it is now except every winter is incredibly severe and we might find sub species evolving very quickly during the summer but then dying out a few months later. In the very long term it's also possible that the extra weight added to the earth by all the frequent ice ages will create significant wobbles in the earth rotation and the planets orbit will finally decay into the sun, but for this we're talking at least 250 years so not really an issue yet.

100% legit blud, I'm a scientist. I don't deal in jokes or crazy theories, I deal in facts and evidence.

So you're a scientist, eh? Then explain how a real ice age can come about while we have record amounts of heat-trapping greenhouse gases in the atmosphere?

For a scientist like me to explain complicated technical issues like the ones raised in my initial post to a non-scientist like yourself can be very difficult. We have a very sophisticated way of viewing phenomena in the world. I don't mean to sound condescending but I would have to massively oversimplify the language and explanations i used and in doing so some of the scientific reasoning would be lost or diluted. In a lot of ways it's best if you just trust me and take my word for it.

*laughing hard*

I guess persuasion is not your strongest suit.

Real scientist can explain pretty much anything to anyone. Sure you might not be able to explain all the math that goes into it, but you can explain the details. I can think back to all the science programs aimed at children, explaining complex science into simple ideas though fun experiments. People even go around explaining string theory and stuff to people with no science backgrounds.

you guys. I'm sure he's just having a laugh. species evolving every summer and winter then going extinct. extra weight being added to the earth causes it to spiral into the sun. 250 years away so don't worry. Guys, don't take it serious. He's just fooling around. It's pretty funny now looking back on it, I've got to admit

I think that is pretty obvious when he said the planet will wobble into the sun.

Let's just move on. Shimmy may or may not believe what he is saying. No way to know for sure but let's just leave it there.

I can't believe anyone argued over if he was joking or not..
Ice ages? Give me a break, we'd have to get over the global warming and then, obviously if we make it through and (rewild) the Earth then why would we go through another Ice Age when we have the technology to reverse it?

Even if global warming is a scam, or it's severe as people on here think it will get, technology of the future by the time an Ice Age would occur would presumably allow us to reverse its affects.

That was a blunt, wasted comment for anyone who really worries about this stuff.

*Gets out thesaurus to make comments look like I'm a scientist*

Bigger words don't make you sound smarter, they show that you put the extra time in to make yourself look big on the internet.

You get nothing.

there weren't any big words in there. Nothing should have required a thesaurus.

Which comment are you referring to here? I don't remember anyone using any words in this thread that are even remotely obscure either.
