This seems to me like it might be increadibly useful as an insulator, I seem to remember that some people discussing environmental solutions were talking about how aerogel would be excellent at reducing heating and cooling costs of buildings thus dropping energy consumption, but that aerogel was to fragile in many ways.
This graphite foam seems to be springy like a sponge and much more resillient.
