When the time comes where our physical forms are limited only by our imaginations, what's the first form you guys would choose?

I want to be THIS GUY!!!!

Aw yeah.

The weapons don't actually work, of course; they're just there to look cool.

This would be my surrogate, avatar, or shape-shifted body during the first few weeks that the technology is available. I would probably get tired of it later on.

Post descriptions, pics if you have them.

This is where people show off their imaginations!

If a thread like this already exists I'm sorry.
I make an animated series about time travel and the future of humanity called ExoTemporal Excursion. You'll like it. If you're into that sort of thing. I also draw.

I would be more fleshy and red, and have some silver terminator fused into it (more like this)

Sometimes I feel like either one of those, would be awesome to edit your body on demand.

I want to be something incomprehensible to our current state of understanding or imagination limits. This is as far as I can go. :banghead:

I suppose it's weird but I don't really want to be somebody else. The very first thing I want to be is a young healthy version of who I am. That would be my home form though. I want to be able to hack my body like any device.

I've always had body image issues about some of me, and spent a good chunk of my life 'passing' and normal so that I can live in the world without having to deal with it. It's only been within the last couple of years that I've hit a point where I feel suddenly I've been hiding from myself all my life and I realized that I like being who I am when I'm not 'passing' for normal, even if I still can't do it in all of my life because it imposes serious problems to my ability to just be a part of society and not a sideshow attraction. I'd never really conscidered getting rebuilt to normal specs. and option, but I still spent most of my life feeling like a pretender at being human.

So I think for the most part I'd just like to be me. And not have that be an issue at any time because we'll be at a point where form is so fluid that nobody will wonder what's wrong with me and even take much note other than "that's an interesting choice."

But I'm also an artist and I tech geek and I want to hack it. Maybe part of my body image issue plays here, in that I've gotten used to the idea of disguise as being a part of social interaction. So as a teen growing up some of my favorite characters have been shape shifters. From the Fey, and tricksters like Loki and Granfather Coyote in myth, to the superheroes like Martian Manhunter and Mystique, and similar figures throughout.

So I think it'd be fun to be able to go with digitgrade feel, or four arms, prehensile tail, exskeleton carapace like some of the creepy villians we see in sci-fi sometimes, change my sense, and take on forms out of myth and stories.

I'd also like to just be able to take on a sort of live action roleplaying situation in character. Where I could be a minotaur for a time while I live the story for the months or years of 'reenacting' some fantasy setting epic quests. Or be a Jawa stowaway on a cruise liner with my droid companion.

In the end I'll probably return to myself and only occasionally 'Dress Up' for trips out and a bit of fun.

Im with kjaggard. I wanna be the enhanced version of me - aesthetically, intellectually, physically. I wanna have the ability to learn anything i would trip into and learn it like a prodigy or a genius in a matter of minutes, the freedom to change my physical attributes at will, the ability to survive in harsh environment, and to look like a very healthy, sexy and youthful 20 year old as long as i still want to live and to have sex with as many people as i want without exhausting my orgasm and not worry about catching some exotic disease. yeah, i also wanna swim under the ocean and not drown.

Why are you now a really fat guy with really hairy nipples? Is that you or what you desire to be?

Arghh that avatar is even more disturbing than his last one :(

I'm with kjaggard and zeitgeist in this. I want an enhanced version of me, still human, albeit remotely because of the various tech-implants received. It would be really cool to be able to do all the thing I've always dreamt of... An enhaced body would definitely help ;) Imagine, you can have some hearing implants so you can hear everything when you want to, but can also reduce the volume when you are annooyed by something.. Phsyical strength and intellectual enhacements, that's what I would go for anytime.

There's definitely truth in that...

Indeed it was. Disturbing. It was pretty disturbing.

Anyways, when the technology becomes available, you could bet thousands of people would change their bodies to something different.

Even if you could change your body in unlimited ways, you wouldn't be something radically different for a couple weeks or months, just to see how it feels? I know I would, for sure.

One possible downside to this would be really disturbing-looking uncanny valley-type anime characters and furries. Nonononononononononno. NO, NO, NO. No.

Maybe I would try to be an Eldritch Abomination for a bit to see how that would be.

extreme changes right away. Nah I doubt that will happen all at once right away. First of all I keep running into a wall of realizing how spectacularly un creative the masses really are. For proof look for sale of infomercial product sales. Things like a rag on a stick net millions of sales... rather than being laughed at and people taking a rag and putting it on a stick to solve their floor cleaning needs or dusting ceiling fan blades. Every thirty years they reinvent the same things. And it's always this amazing new thing.

Our entertainment is remakes, some times even remakes of remakes, live actions of cartoons that you loved as children targetted toward those children grown up, and relaunch the cartoon series for their kids, so that when their kids are grown up they can make live actions of those for them.

What will probably happen right away is, and pardon me for being blunt here, penis and breast size will go up suddenly and body fat will disappear. Body shape will hit rare to impossible proportions and faces will become exaggerated versions of what they are. Basically peoples bodies will become the airbrushed and photoshopped versions we see. and gradually from there there will be a drift towards even more exaggerated features. womens eyes bigger and chins and noses smaller, Mens jaws more chiseled and heavier brows and wider shoulders.

There are people with kinks and fetishs but theres a trade off of how far is somebody willing to go. In your mind you know that a womens Bikini covers all the 'indecent' parts of either gender, It doesn't mean we want to see Will Smith in one at our local resteraunt. Neither is it really appropriate for your childrens fifth grade teacher to wear one all day even if she makes it look good.

So lack of creativity and conforming to the norms in order to fit social pressures will not really see a rapid and extreme shift in body types. You may see a bit of 'costuming' here and there but lifestyle choices likely will change at about the rate of acceptances of things like transgender, and body modification enthusiasts which really is the closest we have to that sort of thing in our current world.

Given complete ability to shift to any form like Odo from Star Trek DS9 I might do something weird for a month like turn myself into half a person (as in clean cut right down the middle) stuck to another half person, as though we were one complete person and nobody could tell this 'one body' was two people. and just try and see if we could cooperate and get to the point where we could function seemlessly and pull it off without anyone guessing.

I might make it so that my body was like the borg from star trek, or make a bunch of bodies I could move my head between and tinker like a hot rod moder on the others. But again mostly just about 'costuming' and playing. Play a character, play a trick, make an artsy statement, challenging the lack of creativity of others. But always when it comes down to it sitting at home with a good book I'd rather just be me (minus my illnesses).
