Argument I'm having with a guy on youtube that started few minutes ago.

Him: "I'm sure peak oil aswell as man made climate change have been exposed as scientific opinion and not scientific fact."

Me: "what's your excuse for denying it?"

Him: "I'm not realy interested in debating this to be honest. Man made climate change is fiction, and the climate has been changing for billions of years."

Me: "Yes, the climate has been changing for billions of years. But that doesn't mean that human's aren't changing the climate as well, that argument is moot. CO2 levels haven't been this high in at least 800,000 years. And it's significantly higher than it has been in that time, not slightly. It's also Never risen as quickly as it has in the last 150 years in the that time period of the Earth. Volcanoes have spiked CO2 levels, but nowhere near as high as we are today. Really, Nowhere near."

I posted that about a minute or two ago so I'm waiting on his response. Deniers.. their arguments are so silly.

Wrong, I deny that. Carbon taxes help limit the damage done to the environment from industry. A healthier environment leads to healthier people and healthy people run the economy. Not dead ones. Uneven taxing and corporate greed are hurting the economy.

Well, I wouldn't say that only "retards" don't know this, since no scientist says something with certainty. There may be overwhelming odds and evidence that it's true, but you always have to go on the assumption that you might be proven wrong eventually.

Although yes, despite that, climate change should be taken as fact, just like evolution.

When a monopoly steals capital from an economy, there will certainly be consequences. Government causes corporate greed through forced monopolization and subsidies. And the poor and super rich should actually, y'know, pay taxes.

What monopoly are you entering into the conversation?

There are a lot of things that cause corporate greed. The government is a few of those things, I'll agree. I don't know anything about forced monopolization but I do know that lobbyists from corporations work to create and maintain subsidies. Corporations influence the government, it's a two way street.

I'm sure we both agree that corporate greed is bad and I don't really have the knowledge or desire to get into a discussion on the finer points of economic structures. What I will say is that a healthy environment is necessary for the longevity of any economy. This means that an economy, made in part by corporations and government, that is destroying its own environment is in danger of snuffing itself out. Any economy not concerned with maintaining the health and well being of its people is not one we should wish to have

Also, note the clever way I edited the quote to make my post more succinct. This is absent in many posts from many users. I mention it here to bring this to light for the entire forum, not just you.
