I couldn't find a thread on this, so I thought I'd make a new one.

Wi-tricity, or wireless electricity is a technology I first heard about in the timeline, and have been keenly interested in since. It's magnetic coupling of a coil in your appliances to a field produced in your walls, with the power drawn from the grid. Essentially, it removes the need for power cords and could allow you to charge your devices upon entering your house, charging your car as soon as you drive it into your garage, or allow you to forget about power points and being able to move larger appliances where you want them, rather than where you are able to have them based on power restrictions.

Moving your TV anywhere thanks to an absence of electric cords, charging your car without having to remember to plug it in, charging your phone while it's in your pocket and having your tablet PC charged without taking it out of your bag. That's the home of the future.

I've heard about this before. I wonder just how much energy is wasted this way.

For me, I think it's not even necessary for most things. The car thing would be nice, though, once and if I get an electric car. My house has enough outlets and I think everything is in a fine place. But I guess this is an old fashioned mind thinking, as we all live in the here and now where that isn't possible. I'm sure people thought the Internet wasn't going to work and wasn't important anyway as well.

Where this would be nice is for a laptop. It would always be charged in the home without having to get the annoying plug! And also earphones. At least we already have wireless mouses.
I strive to be an apple amongst oranges.
