Holy hell! I remember playing San Andreas for hours each day for months on end. I made maps and charted where I found secret items. I made it my mission to reach 100% completion without a strategy guide. It took me almost six months to do it, but it was worth it.

Welp... better give my divorce lawyer a call.

Well I’ve managed to squeeze in about 20 hours of Battlefield 3 so far and am really enjoying it. Thankfully the machine I built a few months ago can run the game with pretty much all round ‘ultra’ settings and only in the fiercest of battles when there are any number of players and vehicles on screen do I spot the frame rate drop noticeably. I can live with that when 99% of the time the game looks absolutely stunning.

I’ve not even touched the single player campaign yet but to be honest, who buys Battlefield for solo play? It’s a multiplayer game through and through, on which front I have spent an hour or two doing some of the co-op missions but really, I much prefer the 64 player conquest engagements, and I’ve been really fortunate to team up with some great squads of players working well together to achieve objectives and not just pad their K/D ratio... something which I think sets this game apart from COD, you can top the score board without getting a single kill, if you play your class right.

Whilst I am really loving some of the new maps, like ‘Caspian Border’ which is a big, sprawling out in the open map with room enough for multiple jets, helicopters, tanks, cars and 64 players to duke it out in, or ‘Seine Crossing’ which sees you battling it out amidst the destructible environments of the streets in and around Paris, I am really looking forward to the ‘Back to Karkand’ DLC due out next month which restores 4 ‘classic’ BF2 maps to the game.

Anyone else playing?

Valve /Steam user database compromised. Oh dear.

http://www.joystiq.c...-personal-info/

Dear Steam Users and Steam Forum Users,

Our Steam forums were defaced on the evening of Sunday, November 6. We began investigating and found that the intrusion goes beyond the Steam forums.

We learned that intruders obtained access to a Steam database in addition to the forums. This database contained information including user names, hashed and salted passwords, game purchases, email addresses, billing addresses and encrypted credit card information. We do not have evidence that encrypted credit card numbers or personally identifying information were taken by the intruders, or that the protection on credit card numbers or passwords was cracked. We are still investigating.

We don't have evidence of credit card misuse at this time. Nonetheless you should watch your credit card activity and statements closely.

While we only know of a few forum accounts that have been compromised, all forum users will be required to change their passwords the next time they login. If you have used your Steam forum password on other accounts you should change those passwords as well.

We do not know of any compromised Steam accounts, so we are not planning to force a change of Steam account passwords (which are separate from forum passwords). However, it wouldn't be a bad idea to change that as well, especially if it is the same as your Steam forum account password.

We will reopen the forums as soon as we can.

I am truly sorry this happened, and I apologize for the inconvenience.

Gabe.

Steam's run by SONY. Proves how bad their security system is. Remember PSN?

Uh, no they're not. It's run by Valve. Although I think Sony did a better job getting the word out that something was wrong when it was their turn. Valve on the other hand has sat on this, letting people discover about the problem when logging into Steam. Not everyone with an account has gotten an email. I certainly haven't, which is a problem for people like me who don't use it all that often.

I’ve clocked up about 60 hours in Battlefield 3 so far, and I’ve still not started the single player campaign... hehe. I think it’s already given me appreciable ROI :D I am still having a lot of fun, and the Back to Karkand DLC that I was most anticipating isn’t even out yet!

The storyline of BF3 is quite absurd. There are some annoying interactive cutscenes ihad to fiddle with a couple of times to get it to workas well.

Do any of you guys play Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam? I just forked out 10 quid for it, only to find there aren't any players on any server. :( If anyone here wants to arrange a game, let me know!

^I'll probably pick it up.. the recent 'Aliens vs Predator' game wasn't great but playing as a marine in the dark whilst that radar beeps faster and faster then having an alien come at you out of nowhere really does make you jump out of your seat, especially if you're playing in the dark :p
