^^seems like a more realistic version of the future than some of these. We probably won't demolish as much as build taller buildings around the old ones.

If you want to be personally involved in this, we'll have to conquer many of the significant causes of aging.

I believe we'll be able to pull it off, largely thanks to the out-sized contributions by self-improving AI we will develop very shortly.

What are you without the sum of your parts?

I think flexible e-paper has its uses, but a smartphone probably won't be one of them.

This is what I do in my free time. Hoping silly stuff like this becomes a common sight in ten years. Then sometimes writing about it regardless.

The canon explanation for these is that this is some small town circa 2031 where some robots are just as common sights on the streets as people. Mainly humanoids, as the other more practical kinds are almost always out of sight. For example, some are just telepresence bots where humans are steering them from afar. Others are autonomous and have been sent out for some task or another, like picking up a tub of ice cream. Others more are agents of autonomous delivery/service vehicles. And then some are just social droids, like the one in the bottommost image that's hanging out with a small group of people.

I personally adore the clashing aesthetics of ultramodern robots and quaint, largely unchanged old towns. For whatever reason, it "sells" me on the idea of robots as being parts of these worlds more.
