Once upon a time, this timeline predicted that President Obama would be re-elected in 2012. It seemed like a pretty safe bet, at the time... Times have changed...
Here is a site where you can chart out a 2012 electoral college map of your own...
http://www.270towin.com/
Here are my predictions... this is Perry vs Obama, assuming no drastic changes between now and election day (new terrorist attack, major economic crash, etc...)
http://www.270towin....s.php?mapid=cmv
And Romney vs Obama...
http://www.270towin....s.php?mapid=cmA
Anyone else fancy a go?

Wow, this is way too hard for me. I don't know which states are typically blue or red or on the fence.
My prediction though: Romney will win the nomination but Obama will win.

I hope Perry doesn't win, Wow you thought hard about that one. I think it'll be a bit closer than that, you have to realize how many people dislike Obama at the moment. I don't think he's going to get record number of supporters as he had in 2008.

I think a more interesting question is whether Republicans will be able to keep such an overwhelming majority in the House come 2012.

Obama will win, but only just.

I think Romney could win.
I have confidence on Ron Paul, Huntsman.
Any other candiate will not win.

Romney's a flip flop on healthcare Perry's secret about his immigration policy is out! What other secrets will leak out this election I wonder. Huntsman is like Microsoft, he's waiting in the background, seeing who rises and who falls while he is steadily rising to the top. I just hope more people will wake and realize that elections aren't supposed to be fighting each other, it's about beating the guy in office right now. And that's what Huntsman is running on. He has actually gone against some of the major republican ideas because he knows there needs to be a balance. Perry is like Apple. Release a new product first it might be great for awhile than others will climb over him!

Romney is a RINO in my opinion. Perry is a democrat in disguise. Why does Gore not attack Perry for his stance against climate change. Perry stance on immigraton thew me off. Perry just wants power, he doesn't stand for conservaive values. Romney's Romneycare is throwing me off but atleast I can see a bit of honesty in this guy.
Ron Paul and Huntsman is the way to go.

I'm only 17 and this is going to be my first election and i have no clue who i am voting for... yet, but i feel that Obama has lost a lot of support recently. I still had hope in the whole "the night is darkest before the dawn" thing and understood that he couldn't turn things around right away, but honestly the man can't make a job to save his life. (at least one that's not paid for by tax dollars). In all honesty I think a republican is going to win it in 2012 and i feel whoever it is will do better. but that's just one mans opinion.

There is still time for you to get in on it. Just keep up with political news on a site like Google News. You can find articles on both sides. But if you really wanna keep up with GOP 2012, I have to say Fox News is the way to go, they do a great job. CNN maybe too. It's kinda my first election as well as I didn't vote in 2008 (which would've been my first) I saw right through Obama's lies and did not want to vote for McCain's War-Mongering. If Jon Huntsman doesn't get in, I might not vote, I am disappointed in Romney as I vote for him in the primaries in 2008. He has changed so much. By the way I am an independent

Ron Paul could easily fuck over Obama even he were nominated. All he has to do is mention that Obama increased the wars after promising to end them and Ron Paul has been consistent with his opposition to them.
I think a lot of moderates and independents would vote for him just for that.

I mostly agree with this one, however I'd make four minor changes:And Romney vs Obama...

All of your changes are in states that I would have considered "swing" states... New Hampshire due to its independent nature and proximity to Romney's Massachusetts, I thought Pennsylvania and Ohio would both be swing states, and that Romney would take Ohio while Obama took Pennsylvania, I think Obama can hold North Carolina (albeit barely) due to an influx of liberal voters in the Research Triangle, which is growing pretty rapidly... that region is diverging from the rest of the state and more closely resembles northern Virginia (which pulls Virginia toward the Northeast) than South Carolina or Tennessee. I had thought of Colorado and New Mexico as swing states as well, but I gave both to Romney ultimately... could go either way...
Swing states in an Obama v Romney contest I think will be Colorado, New Mexico, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, and Iowa (Obama won all of those last time around, but each could go either way next time)

Why are Republican states red anyway? Red = Socialism/Communism

Would you believe that it started only in 2000? Before then, there was no established color for either party, but red, white and blue are our national colors, and white doesn't look good in the papers, and we only ever have two parties that accomplish anything worthwhile, so red and blue became the default colors, and since communism is pretty much synonymous with devil worship around here, red didn't mean anything special... That year the cable news outlets happened to all use the same color scheme, and it stuck...
I mean, it's the liberal media trying to paint the conservative states red, as in their wildest dreams... it's a plot by the elites to get the "rubes" very comfortable with the color red... Yeah, that's it...

Democrats at the time choose blue because they didn't want to do anything with communism. The Republicans got red by default.

Fun Fact. The recent debate was sponsored by Google and Jon Huntsman uses Facebook quite regularly. Not sure, if it's really him or an intern, but still cool!
It's funny to watch perry fail.

If Perry keeps up failing the debates like he did on Fox, MSNBC, CNN, and Fox again, he's gonna drop. That stuff about in-state tuition for illegals and the HPV vaccine hurt him once again. Newt, Cain, and Huntsman did very well once again and the new guy (Gary Johnson) did good too. You could immediately tell Google was sponsoring it because the buzzer noise was the one that was made when someone responds on a Gmail chat. Also, there were ads plastered all over YouTube.Fun Fact. The only candidates that could beat Obama are Huntsman and Romney. If Romney is the nominee, it will be a close race. If Huntsman is the nominee, it will be hard for Obama to beat him.
