And it's still GROWING!!!!
Do you Agree? Disagree?
Well, if you disagree, you might wanna pay more attention to the world's number one social network!
Facebook currently has more than 750 Million users who check their profile at least once a day. About half of them spend many hours on the site. Can any other product say that??
Every single major company from Coca Cola, to Microsoft, to Prada and NBC all have Facebook accounts. Small businesses like Zynga and Popcap were either started on Facebook, or EXPLODED because of it.
Facebook has yet to touch China, dispute Mark Zuckerberg's insisting efforts, which is a huge market for it to explore and Healthy competition for Chinese social networking site RenRen.
Despite investors on Wall Street and those around the world fighting to own a piece of the social network, it has managed to skip out on Goldman Sachs yearning for a IPO announcement, which has been pushed back until 2013 as rumors claim.
Facebook along with twitter has helped stage complete revolutions world-wide. As sharing information allows people in third-world countries to realize their way may not be the best and only way in life. Most notably FARC in 2008, and the Egyptian government collapse.
Facebook has hired about 24 different lobbyists around Washington DC, a number of different people from Financial sectors such as Goldman Sachs. It's Board of Directors consist of people like Don Graham (Washington Post), Peter Thiel (Former CEO of Paypal), and Reed Hastings (CEO of Netflix). Their COO is Sheryl Sandberg (former head of Global Sales at Google)
Facebook is the go to destination for those hot shot programmers who want a secure job in a seemingly ever growing company. It is already taking people away from the likes of Yahoo, LinkedIn, Microsoft and Apple including a few hobbyists here and there.
Barack Obama was one of the first politicians to use Facebook to drastically promote his message, another was Sarah Palin.
Facebook will be joining with PAC to help fund politicians. http://abcnews.go.co...stablishes-pac/
I wonder what their stock will do when it finally lands on Wall Street???!!!!!

You don't get to make a thesis and then support by totally arbitrary claims. Economics doesn't work that way and you'd get an F on any college paper you'd turn with that kind of argument. Science doesn't work like that, and the sooner you understand this jjf3 the better.
I say the most powerful company in existence is Apple, because they have the highest GDP out of any corporation. See, I used a measurable thing to back up my opinion. Now you try.

Dude this isn't scientific at all. It's just a theory or hypothesis whichever one you like to think. Just think about all i've said though and it makes perfect sense.
Economics doesn't really mean much to a company like Facebook. They already know they are powerful, they already know they will be worth Multi- Billions when it finally does get on Wall Street. These are not claims at all. I think you need to do more research and actually look into everything i said.

Apple and ExxonMobil are the most powerful companies by market capitalization, while Walmart and ExxonMobil are the most powerful by revenue.

just becuase apple, walmart and exxon have the most money doesn't mean they are the most powerful. Yes they are extremely powerful and are definetly contenders for the most powerful but i think what jjf3 might be getting at is they have the most influence on the population a i mean how often do you google something or go on facebook they control things that can be twisted to control you. think about it. technically they could control you if they aren't already are. plus google does have tons of money as well just to add to the mix. exxon controls oil and are trying to get to the top with new energies so technically they have control and a lot of say as well. Walmart has control of what you buy so they can control of you that way. While apple just owns hardware which i guess if your a complete slave they can control you cause they do have a widely loved OS. So what he is saying is it up to you to decide. Google and Facebook who control what you believe and know. Walmart who controls what you buy. Exxon who controls energy. or Apple who controls what "most" people use as a phone or computer (i think PC use is way higher and people do use google on Macs). Of course as jjf3 said its a theory... assuming. Now if google controls what you believe to be fact can't they control what you buy as well and make their competition look bad if they wan't... they can technically get away with saying whatever they want and for that reason they have the most power.

The most influential are numbers of companies, banks, and financial institutions if you want to get technical. To say that "XYZ" is the most powerful based on some economic figure is misinformation. Those who gain power are those who have the most influence on Congress. I would say that not paying any taxes whatsoever and doing it legally, is powerful.

alright so im gonna say google, samsung and the credit card companies involved in google wallet partnership rapes apple or anybody on any given day. Google could give a shit about congress because nobody regulates what is said to be true and what is complete bull on the web. If google could buy up a bunch of smaller notable sites and make them the top twenty results on any related search they could write whatever and people would take it for fact. Hence influence is power.Prolite i get your point and it's true but it just misses the seperate point im trying to make. Im just suggesting that influence is power not money. While influence and money, well that is supreme power my friend.

Yep, Google has us all by the balls. I could do without Facebook. Damn I'd have much more time on my hands
, but without google... It would be almost like without electricity 10 years ago. Light candles and start reading
"I walk alone and do no evil, having only a few wishes, just like an elephant in the forest."
"Laugh, and the world laughs with you. Weep, and you weep alone."

Isn't Google involved in anti-trust matters with the US government? And didn't everyone say the same thing about Microsoft and most powerful companies back in the day? And now it's Facebook, or Google. I just don't agree. The most powerful companies are those which are financial instituations, AHEM.... The Great Recession. And yes I know I mentioned that the most powerful company isn't just one company and that it's a multitude of them in many sectors of the economy, but to quite blunt, it's the banks. They control most of the wealth in the entire global economy. Just look at Europe for christ sake. They're about to go through what the US went through in 2008. I just mentioned this in another thread concerning the economy that Wjfox created.

I say facebook has passed its peak. Totally unfounded opinion based on nothing more than personal observation but honestly, many people I know barely use it for anything these days other than playing inane games and posting their scores and prizes that no one else cares about and ends up removing entirely from their news feeds. Many of these same games are now finding their own platforms away from facebook. 'Keeping in touch' and 'finding old friends' is great and all but really, I've lost count of how many 'old friends' I've added then never spoken to or heard back from beyond their initial acceptance of my friend request. The internet will undoubtedly remain a vessel for 'staying in touch'... whether facebook will continue to power that, I'm not convinced.
