Training partners. I can imagine that people in combat sports will use them quite a bit. Fight as hard as you can for as long as you can against an enemy that you can't hurt and who won't hurt you - unless you want it to for conditioning's sake, in which case it'll give ya' a nice little bruising.

Re: My random thoughts

With radical genetic engineering, we might be able to shrink humans to half our current sizes, without any loss of intelligence in spite of our brains being correspondingly smaller. Consider that bird neurons are smaller than mammalian ones, allowing birds to pack twice as many nerve cells into the...

Re: Does anyone think aliens might upload our souls/consciousnesses when we die?

This is similar to the plot of a SF series called Riverworld. In that series, when people die on Earth, their minds are transferred by a race of aliens to a planet called Riverworld where they are given new bodies and resurrect out of the world-spanning rivers every time they die. People from all er...

Re: Is restoring memory likely harder than augmenting it?

Yuli is pretty close to what is currently thought to be the case. What people ascribe to memory loss is usually better thought of as just a diminishment of memory retrieval capability. In many cases, those early memories are still somewhere in your mind; they're just hidden, latent. And since memory...
