Re: Ray Kurzweil on the Joe Rogan show

His in a tough spot. Like many proper high iq geniuses his a bit autistic and hence doesn't know how to live a healthy neurotypical senior life. In his old age he needs to he involved in the world to remain mentally fit and the only way he knows how to do so is though his work as a futurist/speaker....

Re: OpenAI News & Discussions

(According to a quick google search) The Apollo project cost about 2.5% of GDP for 10 years (so 25% total) and I doubt the Manhattan project was that much more expensive (assuming it even was more expensive). Sam is asking for 30% of US GDP right now... I can't think of a good reason why it isn't et...

OpenAI Sora actually is dangerous

With this kind of technology, people are going to be able to realistically fake other people doing crimes and having sex etc. Don't even get me started on what governments and companies might do to destroy competition, have excuses for wars etc. No matter how aware of AI someone is soon they will be...

How long will the gap between AGI and proper full immersion virtual reality be?

To define proper full immersion virtual reality (let me know if you have a better name) I mean you are able to live an entire lifetime in a virtual world that feels exactly like modern earth where you can't tell the difference. I strongly suspect that as we have lived our lives on this planet the mo...

There are no choices in life?

If you accept the premise our brain is basically a computer doing what it thinks is best I don't think choice exists.
Choice would be more like an illusion when you reflect on memories and try to improve your rate of learning by thinking "what would happen if I did X instead of Y"

Re: Your 2024 Predictions thread

Futurism wise AGI is basically the only thing I care about I think by now it is very logical to expect it and even singularity type communities will not be seen as mentally insane by the general public. It's the only thing I really care about as it's very likely that ether we will all be screwed or ...

Status update issue?

When using status updates If I try to share a youtube video, tweet etc, text I have written in front of the link does not appear above the shared content. Instead it appears to the side at the and at the bottom away from the readers eye.
