Can we please try to post threads in the correct forums? If it isn't science, technology or future-related, then it probably belongs in off-topic...

I must say, despite having a more intellectual population than any other fora I've spent time time on, FT is the worst for topic organization.

Just got back from seeing the new Star Trek film. Great movie, really enjoyed it. Better than the previous one. Spectacular visuals.

Brilliant character development of Spock, it has to be said. The scene with Kirk near the end was truly moving.

I've watched it. Just remember to turn off the futurist side of your brain! (It'll save you a lot of trouble) Other than that great movie.

I enjoy Dead Space 3, but I can't help noticing the scientific inaccuracies. I mean, as if they'd still have rusting walls and cracked paint in the year 2500...

Anyway, science fiction is science fiction. A big part of making it believable is adding flairs at the cost of realism. Do you think you'll be able to establish a disturbing atmosphere using self-lit polymorphic walls made of nano-slurry, or rusted metal, harsh angles, and cracking paint?

I don't really watch films and didn't really pay much attention to Avatar, as I found it a tad boring, to be honest. Plus, I generally don't bother with science fiction, so I don't really know much about what constitutes a good film of the genre. But yes, I do agree that it would look too calm if everything were in a good state of repair.

I remember The Future is Wild! Squibbons were my favorite.

Have you renamed it just to make it more clear what people are suppose to post? I thought it was pretty clear as above lol :S

Ewan: 'Visualising' was often misenterpreted, and people thought it meant what they 'visualised' the future as in their mind. Images and Videos is a much clearer name.

An AI in government would not make this "lapse in judgement" because it would be impossible due to the rigidity in its advanced algorithms.
