Well that was just a *sickeningly* bad day of COVID-19 statistics. Nearly half a million new cases in a single day!

The failure of the US-backed coup in Bolivia and newfound success of the Socialist Party spells doom for American hegemony.

-
Yuli Ban
It shows that our power projection and ability to impose our order has vastly waned in strength to the point open socialists actually *beat back* a coup, an ironic thing in the era of Trump and unthinkable even 30 years ago. I think only Venezuela managed it.

Quite the opposite, the Bolivian party which won are not socialist they are social democrats like Bernie Sanders. I'm the 90s real Socialist groups were going well such as Chairman Gonzalo who created Maoism and had most of Peru controlled by Maoists before he stupidly got captured with all the information about the revolution on his laptop.

No.
Pressure is *waaaay* too high. Similar experiments have been tried before, at such high pressures, just not at such a high temperature.

Thanks, Yuli! :) I'm sorry for not being much--if at all--on this forum, over the last two years, but I'll try to be more involved here from now on! :)

@Revolutionary Moderate, and to expand on something bothering me: A superintelligent AI that figures out how to solve climate change is worthless if world governments, corporations, and populations take no action or refuse to heed it. There's likely to be a critical gap of time between when AI can offer world-saving advice and when AI can actually save us itself.

-
Yuli Ban
You'd think so, but it might be possible that we'll have superintelligent (if not exactly generally superintelligent) AI much, much sooner than you think
Oct 06 2020 08:39 PM -
Cyber_Rebel
It's also possible said super intelligence would be able to manipulate world leaders into enacting certain policies, or manipulating the outcome of elections to maneuver the right people into positions of power. This option would be safer than outright replacing humans themselves for the time being, and yield more results.

It'd have to be indirect, such as through memes, social engineering, and using other people more receptive to it, because plenty world leaders might decide to not try to interact with such an AI directly at all. It might even become politicized like how wearing masks and 5G did.

Hmm— presuming I could teleport to Mars right now and survive, I just realized that I probably wouldn't be able to hear someone else speak all that well. The atmosphere's too thin for sound to travel particularly well, so while I'd certainly hear *something*, someone talking to me at a typical talking distance would probably sound like a whisper.

So a screaming neighbor at odd hours of the day/night , isn't canceled ? I was thinking of buying one for that reason.

It'll be muffled. If you play loud enough music or noise alongside the noise canceling they'll block out almost anything. My go to is a light rainstorm on a babbling creek when I really can't handle any noise. But the noise canceling feature alone probably wouldn't no. If you you wanna be really overkill putting on earplugs under them would probably block out upwards of 75 decibels.

Also that sounds horrible I truly empathize cause I go this noise anxiety thing daily.
Oh! Almost forgot, at the very least his screams will be muffled a lot. A good pair from Bose muffle everything even if they can't completely get it alone.

One can also make everything adaptive, so that if you don't like the image it generates, the BCI can detect Error-Related-Fields associated with your disappointment, and then made immediate corrections, until you are satisfied. This might all happen in just seconds.

I see. I guess then in the shorter term, animators will still use this for video production, but most people wont. Animators will use image production to aid with video, since after all, thinking up thousands of images will be easier, faster, and more efficient than drawing them out. As AI is also advancing on the side, combined with brain data input, frame interpolation could also get much better, further easing out the pipeline of video production. So animators and people with more patience...

I wonder how much controversy the usage of this tech will create for artists who are already well established--like popular manga artists. People already perceive tech-based upgrades as "bad" and "unnatural". It is no secret how badly people perceive singers who use autotune, calling them fakes and saying they're not real artists. There will probably be simultaneous pushback against this software, while widespread adoption of it also occurs. Interesting times up ahead.
