Major climate change protests in the UK right now. Disruption in central London, with roads blocked, etc. Nearly 300 arrested so far. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-47959207

tensish discussion with others here over not demonizing the brexit leave protesters a few weeks back for that reason. Likewise though, again disruption is part of democracy. If protests are nuetered of their ability to disrupt and be disdained for it, society will stagnate and democracy will cease to function. If we can gain a common respect for one another, we will find a way forward. A few of my gives, without giving up ground soas not to be vulnerable, have been respecting opposition prot...

protestors (assuming they don't kill people [Charlottesville]) and recognizing the lefts complete failure to acknowledge the subjective needs of white men, and men more broadly. See I don't actually believe most people explicitly value domination, violence and exploitative hierarchy. Even Peter Thiel isn't actually a capitalist (future aristocrat maybe.) He wants managed monopoly soas to help the world because he recognizes the failures of the current market. I think that's...

It's not the resolution that will determine when the next console comes, but rather the FLOPS. We may have petaflop consoles by this time next decade (providing there still are dedicated game consoles being made) if current trends hold: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FLOPS#Hardware_costs

Yes. What I mean is that if Sony makes a console that can limp into the latter half of the decade with an 8k resolution, good framerate and and graphical fidelity they won't need a new console for a while. It's a big sell, 8k requires a lot of processing power FLOPS. Absolutely though, game consoles might not be around in 10-15 years. (Edit, Engrish)

I think the high res support is more about making sure the console can handle a 2025 VR headset. But i'm very biased!

Its ok, the spire that collapsed was added in the 19th century, when a lot of the cathedral was restored/renovated, no one seemed to mind that many elements of the cathedral were a copy before, I don't think that people will find it makes much difference (in 15 years or so when they're done restoring it). It seems like most of the older bits have survived relatively intact, and a bunch of big French businesses/businessmen have donated so they have about a billion euros to spend on it....

(they could hardly get enough donations for maintenance before so the cathedral might be better off in 20 years as a result of this)

Most people don't even have walls in their houses that are big enough for such a thing. I predict that 8K resolution, paper-thin TVs that could cover a wall of a typical American home's living room (7' high x 12' wide) will be affordable for middle class Americans starting in the 2030s.

People have been saying it wont happen ever since the referendum!
When A50 is revoked, we'll know its not happening soon.
When a referendum is run with a big majority in favour of remain we will know that it is over, for at least a few decades.
