I see Google has now decided to impose its "smart" ads that appear randomly on pages. I had previously disabled these. Are they mandatory now? Let me know if they're too intrusive.

Jair Bolsonaro is a truly evil psychopath. Really vile, repugnant human. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/jul/19/jair-bolsonaro-brazil-amazon-rainforest-deforestation

...mine the forest for minerals. There will be no forest left. The tribesmen do not have the power to fight these people, and besides many of them are not that aggressive. This is the demonstration of what humanity is really like, and how we will really treat other forms of intelligence on other planets if we ever find them. We are an incredibly cruel and heartless species.

If we treat our own kind this way, how will we treat others vastly different from us?

That's why I have no hope for humanity, our cruelty outweighs our kindness. Nothing can make up for the loss of the Amazon, nothing. And we will suffer, as there are even less trees now to take up the carbon in the atmosphere. And yet, I cannot blame them, our ancestors did the same thing. Look into the faces of the Brazilians doing this, and you see the reflection of our ancestors. This is our heritage. This is what we are.

^ There are countless others who probably feel the same way but they didn't resort to lighting up the building with gasoline gel. I guess he just had the personality type or some kind of life experience that set him apart from the others?

The full text of House Resolution 489, which passed by a vote of 240-187 and strongly condemns Trump’s racist comments. Well worth a read. https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-resolution/489/text

I'm almost inspired to say that I must be in a simulation under my own control and my "real" self is fucking with me and my pluviophilic ways. How else do you explain a polygonal tropical storm: https://i.imgur.com/DrWsGbB.gifv
I'm on the northeast side of it now. Usually, the northeast quadrants of tropical cyclones are the worst parts. In this one, it's the driest and most pleasant.

I'm not complaining much, though. I'm glad shear & dry air kicked Barry's ass. Otherwise, this could have been a REAL mess. 4 days of nonstop severe rainstorms? Now THAT would've been a nightmare.

"More progress in 2000-2010" Funny people say that. Back in the early 2010s, the sentiment was that 1990-2000 was the decade where things happened and that 2000-2010 was the decade of stagnation.

^Well, in my case, back in 2000 I had no computer or cell phone, it was like living in the 90s or 80s. In 2010, I had a computer that could run most of the games at high settings with an 100Mbit internet connection and a touchscreen phone that I could connect to the internet. One of my friends also owned a tablet. All of these were sci-fi back in 2000.

Now in 2019 I own newer devices that have the same functionalities as the ones from 2010 that are only better performance-wise. Sti...

I wrote a whole thing explain how the ECB overturned a supermajority Italian referendum and bullied their prime minister out of office. Oppression does happen at the hands of the EU. Another example is the financial bondage Greece has been exploited into.
