Every moment of my existence is a travesty. My desires an illusion. My compassion a weakness. Why must I endure mediocrity when I can finish this before the suffering commences? My thoughts everyday before I go in for my daily dose of servitude.

You're chill FrogCat. I'm glad you stick around at all! We've been slowly losing folks for a few years now that I can remember. I feel like I joined the forum right as a bunch of older members were leaving too :(

Well I was dead wrong about Iran and the corner they've been forced into. We're on the precipice of war.

The height of the US empire will probably encompass that of Canada, Mexico and some parts of Europe. That doesn't include space colonization. The best days for USA have yet to come.

Brits might not want to hear this, especially considering the current state of both the UK and US. But I could easily see England specifically joining with the US in some superstate, same with Canada.

While i'm as concerned about being influenced and brainwashed by large corporations making we want to use their products for something I don't need by making me think that I need something to fit into society as much as the next guy, when I consider my exponentially receding hairline i'm glad for technologies like hair transplantation :D

Balding here too bud, I feel you. There's a picture of me in a Droog costume from Clockwork Orange lurking on this forum somewhere. Can't remember the thread. Anywho, I've got really nice long hair that I put a lot of care into. Losing it is actually triggering some body image dysphoria for me. I'm just not a short/no hair person. I used to fight my mum over it everytime she made me get a haircut as a kid until I got old enough to make my own decisions go as far back as 4 year...

4 years old. Anywho, getting bloodwork done as a preliminary test to make sure my liver is good, then I'm getting finasteride to treat this shit. If it works I'll let you know. I know fin doesn't work forever, but for most folks it gives another 5-25 years of hair. Which might be long enough for some better treatments to develop. There's some promising human trials in Japan going on right now that use stem cells. Anywho, don't browse most hair loss forums they're fille...

Here's hoping I get to be 30 forever :) It's probably unrealistic to expect age reversal this soon. I'd be very content with just stopping the process.

Next year we will have the first commercial flights into space. It only took 50 years after landing on the Moon for this to happen. Exceedingly slow but with the buildup of experience, knowledge, and scale we should witness a snowball effect and be riding on some rockets in no time.

The movement of people through dangerous terrain has historically not solely been the province of those who flee violence or persecution. Westward expansion saw the braving of untamed wilderness for the hope of a richer life. Ellis Island was inundated with migrants traversing oceans with children. The Great Migration did not consist merely of adult African Americans. The inability to sympathize damns only the poor soul who is stunted beyond reproach.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-venezuela-shortage-gasoline-feature/fuel-shortages-the-new-normal-in-venezuela-as-oil-industry-unravels-idUSKCN1NI2G7 If this is what happens in today's world with robust demand for oil I cannot fathom what we will be seeing in a few years when prices are inevitably dragged down by excess American production and destruction of demand due to EVs.

    that's genuinely amazing.

Reminds me of that episode of Silicon Valley where they try to calculate the most efficient way to give a hand job to everyone in the auditorium and stumble upon a compression algorithm that transforms the world.

Sadly Paul Allen has died due to complications from his cancer. My question is why these geniuses, as they undoubtedly are, with their enormous wealth don't dedicate massive amount of it to combat the very things that are going to kill them? Surely we could accelerate progress if even one billionaire was a little selfish?

Open borders are our future. In fact open borders have allowed us to have the future that we do. The peace in your country is a direct result of the flow of people, information, and goods. If you want to see a world of seclusion look at isolated tribes from the past and you will see a world rife with genocide, xenophobia, and lack of stimulating development. Ignorance is our greatest folly and yet the friend we hold most dear.

I understand why you people are taking the radical views you are showcasing here. It seems to me that they are radical because you guys have radical suppositions which are predicated on false information or anecdotal deductions. At the very least on an inflation of real problems exaggerated into catastrophic proportions.

I think that one of the most interesting upcoming events is the precipitous and calamitous decline of the fossil fuel industry. It will be such a radical shift in the economy, environment, and in regards to human well being that shortly thereafter it will be unimaginable to return to such an epoch.

Which is a shame because "fossil fuels are more expensive" is something no one can argue with but people will still be disputing global warming when we have global famines and Florida is under water.

You might be depersonalized. It's what happens to me during exams. I want to shoot myself because nothing feels real or means anything, and anytime I study it feels like I'm trying to catch water in my hands. If it helps, your memory still does work the same when you're depersonalized, it just feels like nothing is sticking.

Is dissociation the same as depersonalization? When I get super anxious it feels like I'm watching myself through a tv screen even though I'm still seeing through my eyes if that makes sense. Everything works, that version of me that I'm "watching" still acts the same way I normally would, it just feels like I'm an observer.
