Made by CD Projekt Red (the guys who do the witcher).
Based off of the tabletop RPG Cyberpunk 2020 in which the player eke out a living as mercenaries, criminals or other violent types in dystopian plutocratic third world United States.
The woman in the trailer is a "cyberpsycho" someone who has had to many augmentations and becomes an inhuman monster.
I've played the tabletop once and twice and it's very good, you die very easily and the likelihood of a happy ending is incredibly slim.
(Trailer music is kick-ass as well).
People are illogical, unreasonable, and self-centered. Love them anyway.
If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish ulterior motives. Do good anyway.
If you are successful, you will win false friends and true enemies. Succeed anyway.
The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable. Be honest and frank anyway.
The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds. Think big anyway.
People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs. Fight for a few underdogs anyway.
What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight. Build anyway.
People really need help but may attack you if you do help them. Help people anyway.
Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth. Give the world the best you have anyway.
Yeah. I know it. Looking forward to this game. Witcher 3 came out very good (although there was the issue of graphical downgrade) so Cyberpunk should be awesome too. It won't be released before 2017 so don't get too excited.
But how can it be? Blade Runner and any number of other dystopian cyberpunk movies and video games clearly show that it's dark all the time in the future.
Aside from my futurism autism making me frown at people driving cars in 2077, the game looks really good! Will definitely check it out once it's released.

I think that was purposeful because it was not just any car but what appeared to be a gasoline car with exhaust fumes coming out. More punk.
The growth of computation is doubly exponential growth.
Yeah in reality I think future cities will be quite boring. They will be clean, automated and efficient. Yes the skyscrapers and architecture may be spectacular, but there might not be the kind of adrenaline thrills to seek compared to a gritty, impoverished, cyberpunk city like this. People will be spending all their time in virtual worlds like this as there they can drive, engage in dangerous activities and commit crimes, just like in Westworld.
Locationwhere fanciful imaginings and hard won knowledge meet to genesis the future.
man they really do get some of that good old cyberpunk flavor with a tech awareness upgrade don't they. (I know too many people with 50+ year old cars to begrudge a four wheeled car in 2077 cyberpunk)
like the new trailer immensely.

I like this point. Clean, new cities will probably be very boring at first after the initial thrill of the new wears off. They probably won't have any character until a bit of urban decay sets in, and who knows how long that will take.
Something I always like seeing in fiction is not futuristic things that are brand-new, but futuristic things that have been around for long enough to seem like a lot of mileage and use has been gotten out of them. That Used Future aesthetic, if you will. But the thing is, if robots maintain everything, I don't know if that will ever come to be.
Witcher 3 was amazing, but I personally never really liked the main character (he's exactly like the sort of character I would have thought was amazing when I was 12-13 with white hair and golden eyes and being great at fighting and having magic powers, plus the whole brooding anti-hero thing)
This made it really tough to get into, same with the books which I tried out but just got quite bored after the first one.
So I'll be really interested in seeing what they do with a more open ended setting, where the world is defined but the characters etc. are all up to them.

I'm an old school cyberpunk fan, and while this is decidedly a revamped and updated cyberpunk I'm in. I'm not usually a gamer, largely because I see how much of my life it can eat up and how addicted I can get to a game, but this feels like something I've waited some decades for.

I always try to avoid hype for games, but I'm making an exception to this rule for this game. I hope they consider VR support, I want to walk around the city and become fully immersed in its cyberpunk surroundings.
Yea, the circlejerk for Keanu Reeves is beyond anything I've ever seen.
Oh yeah, since I watched the trailer Reddit has gone insane.
