Heat ray 'was sought' against protest in Washington's Lafayette Square

Officers requested a "heat ray" weapon for possible use against protesters in a park next to the White House in June, a National Guard major has testified.

Military police allegedly asked for the Active Denial System (ADS), which makes targets feel their skin is on fire.

It was before authorities cleared Lafayette Square of demonstrators on 1 June amid protests over the killing of black man George Floyd.

The National Guard did not possess the heat ray and it was not used.

Law enforcement officers are instead believed to have used tear gas, rubber bullets and smoke grenades to clear the park.

/\ The military claims the ADS is non-leathal but all their tests assume less than a 10 second exposure and subjects who have been overexposed have received 2nd degree burns. Like a microwave the beam will keep heating whatever surface it targets and I have little faith of trigger discipline from any government personal using it. It's easy to imagine a disabled or injured person who can't run being burned alive.

Of course Trump would use a literal fucking heat death ray on protesters. He praised the Tiananmen Square massacre as a show of strength. He's a fascist, and that much needs to be said in the literal and merely ironic sense. Fascism likely has a spectrum all of its own just like democracies, monarchies, or socialist styled countries do. People assume it would instantly resemble 30s Germany, rather than tailoring itself to the actual culture that it arouse out of.

ICE is literally a secret police/gestapo force, and I really don't see any need of their existence. People can have legit arguments on the police, but there is none to be had on ICE. If they're doing modern day eugenics/ethnic cleansing, then the UN & other countries should consider sanctions on this one.

"I will be putting forth a nominee next week. It will be a woman," Trump said during a rally in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

The President told reporters earlier Saturday there about 45 people on his list, but he does have a "short list" for potential nominees.
A source told CNN that Trump specifically has said he would "love to pick" federal appeals Judge Amy Coney Barrett, who is a favorite among religious conservatives, but doubts he'll secure support from the US Senate. Barrett is among Trump's list of 20 potential conservative nominees he released earlier this month in an attempt to galvanize his base.

In the best case scenario that Democrats win the presidency and take control of the U.S. Senate there might be ways to make the Republican party more of a long term minority party in the U.S. Senate.   For example, Washington D.C could be given full statehood status, giving it two senators who, in the short term at least, are likely to be Democrats.  Another example that would also help offset the Republican natural advantage in the Electoral College would be to give statehood to Puerto Rico.  One problem with this second example is the lack of enthusiasm Puerto Ricans themselves have for this option.

There’s an Actual New Poll Showing How Puerto Ricans in US Feel About Island-Colony’s Political Status

https://www.latinore...llpuertoricans/

Introduction:

(Latino Rebels) A new poll released Thursday and first reported by NBC News digs deep into what Puerto Ricans living in the mainland United States are thinking about in the days leading up to the national elections. With topics that cover mail-in voting, the COVID-19 pandemic and other political issues, the poll of 1,000 people of Puerto Rican descent also asked about the island-colony’s dreaded political status question. Here is what the poll, conducted by Center for American Progress Action Fund and Latino Decisions, said:

What is your position on the political status of Puerto Rico?
Statehood: 30%
Independence: 19%
Keep current status: 20%
Modified commonwealth: 12%
Free association: 9%
Something else: 10%

And what if the options were:
Puerto Rico should become a state: 48%
Puerto Rico should remain in its current status: 33%
Puerto Rico should become an independent country: 19%

If a candidate for office were to endorse statehood for Puerto Rico would that make you more or less likely to support them.
Much more likely: 31%
Somewhat more likely: 43%
Somewhat less likely: 13%
Much less likely: 13%

If a candidate for office were to endorse statehood for Puerto Rico, so that the people of Puerto Rico would have the same rights as every other American, and have 5 members of Congress and 2 U.S. Senators representing them in Washington D.C., would that make you more likely to support that candidate, or less likely?
Much more likely: 42%
Somewhat more likely: 44%
Somewhat less likely: 8%
Much less likely: 7%

Results of other such questions are also reported in the linked article.

Now's a good time to recall that President Truman caught the 1918 flu. It made him deranged and set in motion a chain of events that led to WWII

From here:

Wilson's administration worked furiously to keep Wilson's diagnosis a secret. Grayson told reporters that Wilson had a cold and just needed some rest, blaming the president's illness on the rainy weather in Paris.

Meanwhile, Wilson’s condition worsened. And he began acting strange.

“Generally predictable in his actions, Wilson began blurting unexpected orders,” A. Scott Berg wrote in his biography of Wilson. “Twice he created a scene over pieces of furniture that had suddenly disappeared,” even though the furniture had not moved. Wilson also thought he was surrounded by spies.

Wilson’s entourage was worried — not just about his illness, but also about the talks falling apart because of what the illness was doing to his behavior.

In a meeting at his bedside, Barry recounts how he told negotiators: “Gentlemen, this is not a meeting of the Peace Commission. It is more a Council of War.” Barry described a frightening portrait of a president:

Colonel Starling of the Secret Service noticed that Wilson “lacked his old quickness of grasp, and tired easily.” He became obsessed with such details as who was using the official automobiles. When Ray Stannard Baker was first allowed to see Wilson again, he trembled at Wilson’s sunken eyes, at this weariness, at his pale and haggard look, like that of a man whose flesh has shrunk away from his face, showing his skull.

The talks went on, with Wilson relying on deputies before he could return to face-to-face talks. Ultimately, he yielded to several French demands that he had previously said were nonnegotiable. The president fully recovered, only to be stricken by a major stroke a few months later.

Chuck Schumer Suggests Amy Coney Barrett Hearings Should Be Delayed

Source: Newsweek

Full Headline: Chuck Schumer Suggests Amy Coney Barrett Hearings Should Be Delayed After COVID Hits Judiciary Committee

BY CHRISTINA ZHAO ON 10/2/20 AT 9:03 PM EDT

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer on Friday night suggested that Judge Amy Coney Barrett's confirmation hearing should be delayed after two Republican members of the Senate Judiciary Committee tested positive for COVID-19.

GOP Senators Mike Lee of Utah and Thom Tillis of North Carolina announced that they both tested positive for the coronavirus just days after attending an event with Barrett at the White House. Some attendees at the event on Saturday were not wearing masks or following social distancing guidelines.

"We now have two members of the Senate Judiciary Committee who have tested positive for COVID, and there may be more. I wish my colleagues well," Schumer tweeted. "It is irresponsible and dangerous to move forward with a hearing, and there is absolutely no good reason to do so."

Lee said he took a COVID test on Thursday and will be isolating at home for at least 10 days. He insisted that he'll "be back at work" soon for Barrett's nomination and Senate vote.

But clearly, it's the left that are the violent ones. Those proud bois just wanted a moment of Mrs. Whitmer's time and needed to get past the bureaucracy in order to see her.  While Antifa and the looters sack whole entire cities, these upstanding patriots planned for months to simply reach out to Governor Whitmer and bring her to a nicely prepared place to discuss policy matters in the American tradition. Who does that, but dedicated citizens who deeply care for the institutions our nation was founded upon?

F.B.I. Says Michigan Anti-Government Group Plotted to Kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer

Authorities charged 13 men, some of whom were accused of plotting to storm the State Capitol building and planning to start a civil war.

(The New York Times)

Storming the State Capitol. Instigating a civil war. Abducting a sitting governor ahead of the presidential election.

Those were among the plots described by federal and state officials in Michigan on Thursday as they announced terrorism, conspiracy and weapons charges against 13 men. At least six of them, officials said, had hatched a detailed plan to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, a Democrat who has become a focal point of anti-government views and anger over coronavirus control measures.

The group that planned the kidnapping met repeatedly over the summer for firearms training and combat drills and practiced building explosives, the F.B.I. said; members also gathered several times to discuss the mission, including in the basement of a shop that was accessible only through a “trap door” under a rug.

The men spied on Ms. Whitmer’s vacation home in August and September, even looking under a highway bridge for places they could place and detonate a bomb to distract the authorities, the F.B.I. said. They indicated that they wanted to take Ms. Whitmer hostage before the election in November, and one man said they should take her to a “secure location” in Wisconsin for a “trial,” Richard J. Trask II, an F.B.I. special agent, said in the criminal complaint.

Do these really look like the faces of criminals who would bring harm to a woman?

This is my first post in many years, totally worried what is happening in US atm, I've already told few of my US friends, if they wish to move out, that now it is the time. Sadly, US passport is no longer accepted in much of the world due to Covid negligence on part of current sociopath and chief who made US highly contagious pandemic ridden place. All of them saying to me now, they'd leave but nobody wants them, they can't even go to Canada, the restrictions in place prevent free international travel for most Americans these days. No idea what to say, other then Vote and Vote that Racist Sociopath and Idiot in-Chief Fake Billionaire out of office. November 3rd. Stay vigilant.

PS. The Michigan terrorist who tried to murder Governor of Michigan and her staff, the deputies and so on, is scary omen of things to come, white neo nazi terrorist plan to or hope to start some sort of civil war, under current administration they received blessing and support and encouragement, i fear this doesn't look good pass November 3rd elections, really worried. Stay safe.

Why stop at pot and not also include people jailed for the possession of other drugs, though? The drug dealers themselves can remain in jail if necessary.

Agreed; I mean, it's not like they actually obtained patient consent for these hysterectomies and in any case I'm unsure that the ICE can actually meaningfully obtain people's consent for such surgeries considering that it could threaten to deport these people if they will refuse to agree to get these surgeries! :(
