This is thread for discussing the future of Phobos and Deimos. I believe that they will be a target of robotic exploration in the 2020s, crewed nissions in the 2030s-2040s, and used as natural space stations from the later 21st century and onward, perhaps even hollowed out in the far future.

I could see them eventually either being dismantled for natural resources, or used as counterweights for space elevators.
