Anyone notice how fantastical and deviated the american flag is? Alot of the flags seem to be centered around a single star such as uruguay, argentina, japan. These single star flags seem to symbolize more of a reality. One could argue that perhaps the 50 stars represent some type of abstraction like wave-particle duality. 50 stars of the same size and color, could stack them into one fairly easily. Its interesting geographically that australia has a flag with a large star and to its east it has 5 smaller stars. its a coincidence that the western united states can be symbolized by these 5 stars hawaii, alaska, oregon, washington, california. Its amusing to see chinas flag because evidently they count it a bit different.

The Australian flag is one star under a union jack with the southern cross constellation next to it. I dont think these stars line up with the western USA.

China the smaller stars represent the people of china, being led by the large star, the communist party. but it has some other interpretations I think.

I'm not sure what you mean about the USA flag? Are you saying that the USA is a single centralised country and the idea of the 50 sovereign states making it up is a fiction?

Or is it the idea that the stars are all uniform, implying a federation of equal states when in reality the states are very unequal?

Or are we talking about things like Puerto Rico and other territories which are ignored?

Good point on the unequal nature of each state, such as maybe electoral college.

But the point of the stars on the flag is suppose to represent the 50 states and they are being represented in what can be described as an equality seeing as how the stars are same shape and color.

you cant refute that there is a lot of similarity in the spatial layout of the 5 most western states and the southern cross constellation. Im not sure of the probability but i would say its certainly significant, especially considering the location of Australia as well the nature of the foreign relations.

Brazil has some stars on their flag similar to the USA. but at the moment i cant derive any similarity, nor would i spend much time trying, but i do believe that associating physical boundaries of your country with stars is quite frankly disrespectful and delusional.
