Hi everyone, potential addition to the timeline here. Currently there is a fundraising effort underway by Dr. James Shapiro of the University of Alberta in Canada in order to fund a Lonza Cocoon manufacturing facility to generate scaleable cell therapy. This follows several experiments that have shown certain types of stem cells being injected into mice livers can reverse type 1 and type 2 diabetes altogether making an effective cure. They are looking to raise 22 million so they can try a large clinical trial in humans by 2022. Dr. Shapiro is the man who helped pioneer the Edmonton Protocol for to face Type 1 diabetes in the 90s so he has credibility with his claims. This would be a huge even as diabetes is an extremely costly condition in many countries and diabetes is affecting up to 450M people worldwide as of 2020.

Great news! Diabetes is actually a huge killer because it makes heart attacks and strokes more common and lethal. Not to mention the other myriad complications that accompany it.
The growth of computation is doubly exponential growth.

It's also been a major comorbidity factor with COVID. My grandmother died in 2019 in part due to complications from diabetes.

Sorry to hear that, Marc.  :( Just how old was she?
