Yah, but tungsten is the way to go for projectiles!

Even if we do make contact/give our presence away, they're never going to get here in our lifetimes, so I don't particularly care. If they are malevolent, as has been pointed out the technological disparity will be such that we cannot do anything to stop them. Whether or not they would leave us alone because we are so 'far behind' them technologically is to be debated. There may be a point that technological advancement stagnates at, perhaps it would be possible for us to 'catch up'.

Because of density, abundance, any survivor being able to use it for tools to rebuild society, or do you have another specific reason why little two-trunked elephants from space would choose a tungsten foot to let fall? I'm quite curious what would make tungsten better when, as pointed out by Caiman, the kinetic energy for anything at a reasonable percentage of light speed makes for a certain extinction event. If large enough or fast enough, there'll be enough kinetic energy for a second moon with nobody left to marvel at its beauty.
This amount of awesome cannot be from concentrate.
