True although it seems like we've picked off most of the low hanging fruit which were causing people to die early.
Still yet to put a dent in maximum life expectancy which appears to be mid 120's.

"The future will be better tomorrow. If we do not succeed, then we run the risk of failure. For NASA, space is still a high priority. The Holocaust was an obscene period in our nation's history. No, not our nation's, but in World War II. I mean, we all lived in this century. I didn't live in this century, but in this century's history. Republicans understand the importance of bondage between a mother and child. We're going to have the best-educated American people in the world." Dan Quayle
Loon, https://loon.com , already has software that is constructing balloon navigation software better than humans. Is this The Singularity™? Nope. Is it a step toward it? Don't know. This is certainly a case where software created a control system better than humans could make.

While there is no chance that a super-pressure balloon drifting efficiently through the stratosphere will become sentient, we have transitioned from designing its navigation system ourselves to having computers construct it in a data-driven manner. Even if it’s not the beginning of an Asimov novel, it’s a good story and maybe something worth calling AI.
Here's 1 byte (yes, just a byte) of RAM from 1946

The level of uncertainty in the world seems to be increasing over time.
Can you imagine this graph in 2045?
^ In 2045, the index will be somewhere above 200,000.
The AI overlords will have wiped out at least half of humanity by then.
OpenAI: "We've found that our latest vision model, CLIP, contains neurons that connect images, drawings and text about related concepts."
Seems like some things are simply emergent... Give a model a big enough size and it'll collapse into its own little pseudobrain, organizing into the most efficient layout afforded by the design.
And remember my friend, future events such as these will affect you in the future.
