The first two links are more in-depth than the last, which is video of the actual flight test.

The first suborbital flight should be at the end of this year. I would guess that by 2016 we'll have regular commercialized suborbital flights. They're not as big in the media as SpaceX because they're not going beyond Earth's orbit and the CEO (Richard Branson) doesn't regularly talk of Mars and Solar System colonization. This is quite an accomplishment nonetheless.

So I just realized this was news on FTL. What does everyone think the implications of this test are? Will space tourism be here a lot sooner? Is this as significant as the test of the Falcon 9? Will it be as significant as the Falcon Heavy test? Could this mean more investors and pre-purchased flight tickets?

Very interesting! Would love to go on one of these flights when they go into service, if I'm rich enough by then. :/
