Nobody can deny that we are in the very middle of a digital revolution right now. Writing with pen and paper, reading books, maps, analog TV and radio, calendars, torches (flashlights), analog clocks, greetings cards, mail, board games and analog cameras are just a few of the things that are being phased out in favour of digital technologies. But what do you think will be phased out and digitised next? Is there anything we still use every day that might soon disappear?

Our eyes (at least for the sight compromised) are beginning to be digitized with bionic eyes. Light that comes into the eyeball is received by an artifical retina chip which then translates the light into a specific format that the optic nerve can carry to the brain for further visual processing.

This is already done with advanced cochlear implants.

This is just one item of a larger trend towards the digitization of sensory input as a way to override the compromised biological organs.

And at a certain point, digitized senses will usurp biological senses, creating much controversy and change. This will be a huge step towards the Singularity.

I always imagined the future as a time of more reason, empathy, and peace, not less. It's time for a change.

....coming in theaters 2045.

Anyone else think this is just like a science fiction movie?
