Inspired by http://www.reddit.co...t_of_your/]this[/url] Reddit thread.

Assume the following:

  • You live long enough to reach immortality
  • Technology continues to increase with no end in sight.

Simply put, how much do you want to enhance yourself? What does your end state look like?

I haven't really decided what I'd like to be yet, so I can't really say.

What difference does it make?

What is true, just, and beautiful is not determined by popular vote. The masses everywhere are ignorant, short-sighted, motivated by envy, and easy to fool. Democratic politicians must appeal to these masses in order to be elected. Whoever is the best demagogue will win. Almost by necessity, then, democracy will lead to the perversion of truth, justice and beauty. -Hans Hermann Hoppe

I will probably look something like this before I finally achieve true immortality. The struggle to live forever will be very messy and extremely difficult.

If you don't mind me asking, where did you find that? Seems interesting.

As for me, my endpoint would simply be God. I can do whatever I want, whenever I want, however I want, and hopefully be able to create challenges for myself so that I don't get bored. And if I do, I can always just start over and go again with no recollection of previous events.

It is a surrealist painting. I used it for effect. I was saying to achieve what has never been achieved (immortality) it won't be a smooth sailing.

That sounds pretty limiting.

I reckon my endpoint is when i could fly into a sun to "recharge" my batteries...

The art of forgetting is inherent in human minds; the art of being forgotten  is the normal fate of knowing. We as futurists don't accept that. In the panels of the Universe, we alone will remain standing; remain unforgotten.

I'll be in a simulation, like the one in Vanilla Sky perhaps, being run by entities living in another simulation which is being run by another simulation. The epoch of 'flesh' will be long over and the universes  are an infinite cloud of simulations.

I'd like to look exactly as I do now, but with an artificial and immortal body.

I probably wouldn't want any of those types/kinds of enhancements to begin with.

Transferring my mind into a virtual form will be a major point but not the end.

I'll continue with augmenting my mind.

And then after hundreds or thousands or perhaps more subjective years of living in VR, assuming I feel like there's not many more things for me to do or if I just feel it is time, I will perform radical changes to my mind.  Perhaps erasing some or all of my memory, perhaps not.  I expect that pattern to continue for the rest of my existence, although perhaps it can't exactly be called my existence, since the concept of identity starts to break down there.

Simply put, how much do you want to enhance yourself?

As much as technology allows me to.
