The main criticism I hear of that image is that it's just capitalism squeezing more productivity out of citizens, trying to get every last cent it can from workers. Which is true. But I dunno, a lot of people who have been crippled are often thrust into poverty. If there was some way to make them productive again, letting them control robots seems like a good way.

It's just a supremely shaky gambit that could only exist at this particular sliver of time.

/\ I wasn't even thinking about it from that angle actually. Granted, yes, I think capitalism is exploitative. But I was more concerned about this person not having any other prospects. I imagine myself in the situation. At first I'd probably be really excited to have something to do that other people need done. But eventually it might get very depressing. At least with normal wage labour we have an illusion of choice and can jump from one business to another with similar but different tasks. Here I'd be stuck tending tables for eternity.

How many people just as stuck , without being cripple ?

And that IS having other prospects.

Maybe in the future there will be more teleoperated jobs , and able bodied and cripple will have to compte on them.
Still better then nothing , that many able bodied have.

Wow! Is that really being done in real time? The art world will explode when everyone has access to the final outcome of this sort of research!

That is just amazing!

Seeing robots in the wild is great. Here's Pepper working at an airport.
