I'm considering two predictions for the timeline, Will, born out of research I'm doing for the Cracked article revision that's trudging along. 


I'll post in depth about them later, but the gist is this:


2035: Solar energy accounts for 50% of our energy use and renewables count for 80%.


2020s: Quantum computers begin surpassing classical computers in power, beginning with quantum annealing machines such as D-Wave


2028: D-Wave breaks the 1 million qubit barrier (based on exponential growth calculations)

And remember my friend, future events such as these will affect you in the future.
