To know is essentially the same as not knowing. The only thing that occurs is the rearrangement of atoms in your brain.

ChatGPT reaches 100 million users two months after launch

Thu 2 Feb 2023 20.46 GMT

ChatGPT, the popular artificial intelligence chatbot, has reached 100 million users just two months after launching, according to analysts.

It had about 590m visits in January from 100 million unique visitors, according to analysis by data firm Similarweb. Analysts at investment bank UBS said the rate of growth was unprecedented for a consumer app.

“In 20 years following the internet space, we cannot recall a faster ramp in a consumer internet app,” UBS analysts wrote in the note, reported by Reuters.

By comparison it took TikTok about nine months after its global launch to reach 100 million users and Instagram more than two years, according to data from Sensor Tower, an app analysis firm.

ChatGPT can generate articles, essays, jokes, poetry and job applications in response to text prompts. OpenAI, a private company backed by Microsoft, made it available to the public for free in late November.

Israel's President uses ChatGPT to write speech

Post by funkervogt »

President Isaac Herzog on Wednesday openly gave a speech which was partially written by ChatGPT to the Cybertech conference in Tel Aviv.

Herzog said that both his opening and closing to the speech were written by ChatGPT, saying “the bots spun into action,” as a way of showing what he called are the amazing achievements of the cyber and hi-tech industries.

At the technological forefront
He said, “I am truly proud to be president of a country to be host of the innovative hi-tech industry. Israel is consistently at the forefront of technological advancement, Its achievements in cybersecurity, AI [artificial intelligence], and big data,” are tremendous.

“From developing cybersecurity technology to successful startups” Israel is having “a significant impact on the global stage,” said Herzog.

Further, he said, “not only are machines taking on tasks which once only humans could perform, they are performing tasks which humans could never dream could be done - pushing the boundaries of the imagination and of what is possible.”

May or may not be our first look at the much-anticipated GPT-4. Really curious what Google's response to this will be.

There's a name that in the past decade was put into wacky situations and 20 years ago not truly a public movement yet.

GPT-4
We’ve created GPT-4, the latest milestone in OpenAI’s effort in scaling up deep learning. GPT-4 is a large multimodal model (accepting image and text inputs, emitting text outputs) that, while less capable than humans in many real-world scenarios, exhibits human-level performance on various professional and academic benchmarks.

Confirmed: the new Bing runs on OpenAI’s GPT-4
Congratulations to our partners at Open AI for their release of GPT-4 today.

We are happy to confirm that the new Bing is running on GPT-4, customized for search. If you’ve used the new Bing in preview at any time in the last six weeks, you’ve already had an early look at the power of OpenAI’s latest model. As OpenAI makes updates to GPT-4 and beyond, Bing benefits from those improvements to ensure our users have the most comprehensive copilot features available.

So, whenever Sydney stated this, it/she was actually telling the truth after all. :D

Seems they're keeping the parameter count secret for now.
