The AI model NeuralReshaper makes heavy people light, tall ones small or petite ones wide. It shows how quickly AI is making its way into the graphics field – and raises questions about how this affects our everyday use of visual media.

Yep. It's part of what I've been saying about how models are going to be among the first on the automation chopping block. Once AI makes it so that literally anyone and everyone becomes a "model," well that's just it for that field save for in niche circumstances.

God, I remember when CLIP was the best it got. I remember distinctly feeling the sensation of "man, this is going to be so cool someday." And there were a few images that looked interesting, if you squinted and used your imagination. DALL-E 2 is a barely believable leap forward.

So I mentioned this in my five year update of my media synthesis epiphany thread on /r/artificial, but I wanted to bring it up here.

I can't say when we'll see such a thing, but I do say that it shouldn't be any further out than this year when we'll see some amazing progress in video synthesis. Possibly with DVD-GANs or another video diffusion model, but regardless we'll see novel video synthesis start becoming a bigger trend. It'll be a fun development that might result in This Gif Does Not Exist.

But it probably won't be anything exceptionally earthshattering. Maybe an animated GAN or even multimodal transformer that can synthesize about 50 to 100 frames coherently.

What will be far more interesting is where it leads.

Fast forward five years and I can very easily envision the rise of primitive magic media machines. Text to video transformers will be around, and here's how one can work: you type in something into a prompt box, the more descriptive, the better. You have an option whether this will be a static image, just pure audio, or a video. You want a video, let's say of a middle-aged woman getting into a green 70s Impala. This is set to the maximum number of frames, let's say 1,800, but with a silky smooth 60 frames per second so it doesn't last more than 30 seconds. But that's fine, as once this short video finishes rendering, you add in a second prompt with the instruction to stitch it to the first. This one involves the woman starting the car and getting a telephone call, which she answers. The model completes this, with all the appropriate sound effects. And you can keep doing this indefinitely, until your creation is movie-length or longer still.

This is just what I envision being possible within five years. Obviously further out, it gets even more impressive.

If what you predict is true Yuli then this is going to completely destroy the pornographic film industry world wide. Nothing will be able to compete with personally curated pornographic content that feeds the user exactly what they want.
