Aubrey de Grey is referring to this fundraising effort using a special kind of cryptocurrency which is being handled by Richard Heart, the founder of the HEX cryptocurrency of which the PulseChain is based on. Here's the website - https://pulsechain.com/

Here's an excerpt from the website's page that outlines the fundraising effort for SENS:

Image

It's a game-changer because the more people invest in this crypto, more they get rewarded as you see is explained above. The crypto market is worth trillions. A large portion of that value is from people who live paycheck to paycheck seeking a way to enrich their own lives with cryptocurrencies. You can guess as to what the implications are.

Also, I conclude with a link to a page on SENS' website regarding this fundraising effort:

https://www.sens.org/pulse-chain-airdrop/

It does clarify some aspects that are confusing to a lot of people about how cryptocurrencies are involved in this.

An airdrop is basically sending a cryptocurrency in any amount to a wallet address with the intention of giving it away (there are also other reasons).

looks like an ounce of tuna, or half a quart of milk, all beat 1 pound of chicken or turkey in meeting your daily tryptophan needs. cheeses, oats, nuts, chocolate and some fruits can all be sources of triptophan.

Interestingly some research on tryptophan restriction in rats indicates it may have a pro-aging effect (restriction increased lifespan): https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/22255/

Though this possibly could be related to protein since protein restriction has also shown some life-extending effects (though the science there seems pretty complex as well): https://www.longevityadvice.com/protein-aging/

Scientists reverse age-related memory loss in mice
https://medicalxpress.com/news/2021-07- ... -loss.html
Scientists at Cambridge and Leeds have successfully reversed age-related memory loss in mice and say their discovery could lead to the development of treatments to prevent memory loss in people as they age.

In a study published today in Molecular Psychiatry, the team show that changes in the extracellular matrix of the brain - 'scaffolding' around nerve cells—lead to loss of memory with aging, but that it is possible to reverse these using genetic treatments.

Recent evidence has emerged of the role of perineuronal nets (PNNs) in neuroplasticity—the ability of the brain to learn and adapt—and to make memories. PNNs are cartilage-like structures that mostly surround inhibitory neurons in the brain. Their main function is to control the level of plasticity in the brain. They appear at around five years old in humans, and turn off the period of enhanced plasticity during which the connections in the brain are optimized. Then, plasticity is partially turned off, making the brain more efficient but less plastic.

The Rising Importance of Crypto in Aging Research

https://www.lifespan.io/news/the-rising ... -research/

The landscape of research funding and investment is changing, particularly with the influx of interest from the crypto community in the last year or two. A lot of people in this community are software engineers, coders, programmers, and other Silicon Valley types, and many of them have an interest in life extension.

Preclinical study finds success in reversing age-related memory loss

An intriguing new study from researchers in the United Kingdom is proposing an innovative method to treat age-related memory loss. The preclinical research shows memory decline in aging mice can be reversed by manipulating the composition of structures in the brain known as perineuronal nets.

Perineuronal nets (PNNs) are structures in the brain that envelop certain subsets of neurons, helping stabilize synaptic activity. They essentially put the brakes on the neuroplasticity seen in the first few years of life.

Richard Heart and HEX are going to make Bitconnect look small. This is the worst possible thing that could be happening to the anti-aging space. It is a looming PR disaster. HEX is a pyramid scheme, it's entire "bank time deposit" model of "value" is circular and relies on funneling money from people who "invest" early into the project from new suckers. Not to mention that Heart himself owns 45% of the blasted supply, meaning he can--and will--run away with the money when he's ready to exit his positions.

Not all crypto is a scam, but anything made by Richard Heart is. He's a hype beast and this new airdrop model doesn't provide any fundamental value to anyone who receives the airdrop either. Pulse will make people feel better about donating to SENS when they should just do it regardless until those same people realize that no one who's actually developing any protocol worth anything on ethereum will ever use.

Why? Because Pulsechain is a half-baked no value added fork of ethereum and anyone useing ethereum will ****ing use ethereum because the whole point is to use blasted ethereum! Why?! Because ethereum is the secure chain with developer mindshare and all the protocols with volume are built on it! Why in gods name would multi-billion dollar protocols and corporations migrate their chains, volume and development to pulse? There are already scaling solutions that operate on side chains and corps are working on their own in house solutions where side chains and onchain scaling hasn't released yet. Why risk moving to some unused, unaudited random fork? Because the silly youtube man in a tophat says so? Absolute dumpsterbrain reasoning.

The only reason Pulse exists is to enrich Richard Heart's wallet and his public relations so that he can hinge on actual scientists who have unfortunately been duped to protect him when both the law and anger of millions of people scammed out of their money come knocking on his doorstep.

Sorry for the negative posting, I sincerely hope SENS isn't caught up in this too much longer it will not end well. I don't know who long it will take, a year, 2 years, maybe 3?
