Introduction:
(The Hartmann Report) Trump lost. That is, if all legal voters were allowed to vote, if all legal ballots were counted, Trump would have lost the states of Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Georgia. Vice-President Kamala Harris would have won the Presidency with 286 electoral votes.
And, if not for the mass purge of voters of color, if not for the mass disqualification of provisional and mail-in ballots, if not for the new mass “vigilante” challenges in swing states, Harris would have gained at least another 3,565,000 votes, topping Trump’s official popular vote tally by 1.2 million.
Stay with me and I’ll give you the means, methods and, most important, the key calculations.
But if you’re expecting a sexy story about Elon Musk messing with vote-counting software from outer space, sorry, you won’t get that here.
As in Bush v. Gore in 2000, and in too many other miscarriages of Democracy, this election was determined by good old “vote suppression,” the polite term we use for shafting people of color out of their ballot. We used to call it Jim Crow.
North Carolina Court Paves Way for Judge Griffin to Overturn Apparent Defeat by Bryan Anderson
April 4, 2025
Introduction:
(Anderson Alerts) A three-judge panel on the North Carolina Court of Appeals decided along party lines on Friday to pave the way for Republican Court of Appeals Judge Jefferson Griffin to overturn an apparent 734-vote defeat to Democratic Supreme Court Justice Allison Riggs.
Nearly five months after the election, the State Board of Elections will now be tasked with administering another recount. Some voters will have their ballots thrown out altogether, while others will be given 15 business days to cure deficiencies with their ballots.
Here’s a breakdown of who falls into what category:
• Approximately 60,273 with incomplete voter registration information will be given 15 business days to cure their ballots
• Approximately 5,509 military or overseas voters whose absentee ballots were not accompanied by a photocopy of a photo ID or ID Exception Form will be given 15 business days to provide documentation attesting to their eligibility to vote
• 267 overseas citizens who have not resided in North Carolina but whose parents or legal guardians were eligible North Carolina voters before leaving the U.S. will have their votes immediately discarded

But given the votes in question are disproportionately from Democrats, Friday’s decision will almost assuredly result in a Griffin victory if the ruling holds.
(Catalist) This analysis focuses on the 2024 presidential election, which despite its unprecedented nature – from a candidate switch to an assassination attempt to recovery from a global pandemic – demonstrated a continuation of many demographic trends from the past several cycles.
Overall, we find that the Democratic Kamala Harris / Tim Walz ticket retained key parts of the Biden 2020 coalition, but at lower levels among a specific, interconnected set of subgroups, including young voters, men, voters of color, less frequent voters, urban voters, and voters living outside the major battleground states. No single demographic characteristic explains all the dynamics of the election; rather we find that the election is best explained as a combination of related factors. Importantly, an overarching connection among these groups is that they are less likely to have cast ballots in previous elections and are generally less engaged in the political process.
While these groups tilted toward Donald Trump and JD Vance, Harris retained support among more consistent voters, particularly in battleground states. Together, these dynamics allowed the Trump / Vance ticket to secure a narrow popular vote plurality and a sweep of the major swing states.
