It's like being the Prime Minister is a curse. 8-)
To know is essentially the same as not knowing. The only thing that occurs is the rearrangement of atoms in your brain.

Latest from the Covid Inquiry.

Hugo Keith has been brilliant throughout this, calmly and forensically tearing apart Johnson's statements.

Just look at these extracts and the contempt for older people.

Interest rates: Too early to speculate about cut, says Bank boss

It is "too early" to speculate about when UK interest rates will be cut, according to the governor of the Bank of England.

Andrew Bailey spoke after the Bank voted to hold interest rates for a third time at 5.25% - a 15-year high.

On Wednesday, the US Federal Reserve signalled that rates were at or close to a peak and could fall next year.

But in contrast, Mr Bailey said it was not possible to "definitively" say the same for the UK.

The Bank has lifted interest rates 14 times since December 2021 to cool soaring inflation, which measures the pace at which prices are rising.

I expect most countries will have legalised it by 2050, or at least decriminalised it.

Sir Keir Starmer supports assisted dying law change

Labour Leader Sir Keir Starmer has said there are "grounds for changing the law" on assisted dying.

Sir Keir said MPs should be given a chance to vote with their conscience on the matter.

A bill to legalise assisted dying in the UK was defeated in 2015, but was backed by Sir Keir and several Tory cabinet members.

The issue is under discussion after Esther Rantzen announced she had joined the Dignitas assisted dying clinic.

The 83-year-old broadcaster told the BBC she is currently undergoing a "miracle" treatment for stage four lung cancer.

First UK-wide hybrid school offering home and class learning to open in 2024

Tue 26 Dec 2023 07.00 GMT

The first UK-wide hybrid school, teaching children up to sixth-form age both from home and in person, will open in September 2024.

Duke’s Education schools will expect students to come in for at least one day a week for practical subjects, and to take part in sporting and social activities. For the rest of the week, it will offer four live lessons and two independent study sessions a day.

Designed for school refusers, those with anxiety or those whose parents feel there are no suitable local schools, and students who want to fit their education around sporting or other extracurricular commitments, the school has ambitions to open its doors to children across Europe.

“Unlike other online schools, we are not a temporary phase, we are a proper school,” said Ambreen Baig, who is modelling the Duke’s schools on the more limited model she set up at London’s Portland Place independent school in September 2020.

Duke’s Education runs more than 25 schools and colleges in the UK and Europe. Now Baig aims to offer the hybrid model across them all. “Our research shows that families are prepared to travel quite large distances to get to one of our schools if they’re just doing it once or twice a week,” she said.
