Students nationwide walk out of classes to protest inaction on guns by government

by Monique Beals - 05/26/22 3:41 PM ET

Outraged by the inaction of lawmakers on gun violence, students across the country held walkouts on Thursday in the wake of a brutal massacre in Uvalde, Texas, where 19 children and two teachers were gunned down at an elementary school.

From Meridian High School in Virginia to El Camino Real Charter High School in California, students across the country took part in walkouts to demand gun control measures, according to social media reports and local news outlets.

Meanwhile in Rhode Island, students from several schools in Providence laid down for three minutes outside the Rhode Island State House, according to a tweet from state Sen. Tiara Mack (D).

At Oxford High School in Michigan, over 100 students walked out of class on Thursday, the Detroit Free Press reported. The school was the site of its own deadly shooting on Nov. 30, where four students were killed.

In Buffalo, Minn., students at Buffalo High School took part in another walkout on Thursday, WCCO, a local CBS affiliate, reported. Buffalo was also the site of shooting last year at Allina Health Buffalo Crossroads Clinic. That incident left one medical assistant dead and several others injured.

Putin Coaches Orban and the GOP
by Thom Hartmann
May 22, 2022

Introduction:
(Independent Media Institute) Republicans believe that Hungarian strongman Viktor Orbán has figured out the “secret sauce” to turn a republic into a hard-right oligarchy, and today they’re in Budapest drinking deep from his insights on the fine points of destroying democracy.

In two speeches this week, Orbán laid out his Hungarian version of the racist American “Great Replacement Theory,” trashed Jewish financier George Soros as a proxy for Jews around the world, reiterated the importance of having friendly rightwing billionaires seize control of a nation’s media, and attacked societies that allow gay marriage and tolerate trans people as engaging in “gender madness.”

Conclusion:
Orbán’s speeches this week raise the question: Is he teaching the American GOP through his example, or are Republicans teaching him through their “replacement theory” and new laws banning books and classes on American history and civics?

Increasingly it appears that the answer is: “Putin’s teaching them both.”

I am going to eat cheese burgers and meat until I drop dead. Even if being zapped over and over again is the cause of that end. This is a fact.

Isn't preserving culture and national heritage important? Thousands of years of tradition. I wouldn't want to see Japan, China, Nigerian, or any culture being wiped from this planet. I feel that the Hungarians have every right to preserving their beliefs and culture. The republicans are welcome to preserve what they feel is their culture and heritage. I miss the time when the left and liberalism used to agree with the concept of protecting culture and letting people honor their forbears.

Only crazy to the dumbasses in the general public of which there are many. This is probably one of the most interesting "crazy" rants ever from her. With the way nanotech and other future tech is going this won't be so far fetched. Why would they do anyone such an evil thing anyway? BBQ, Mickey D's, Chik-fil-A, and more stuff is just too damn tasty to pass up. Probably some petty wanna be tyrant would use that sort of stuff.

Biden Wouldn't Back Trudeau-Style Handgun Ban in U.S.: White House
Source: Newsweek
As Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau prepares to introduce a bill that would place a national freeze on handgun ownership, the White House clarified that President Joe Biden has no plans to make similar moves south of the border nor does he support such a ban in the U.S.

"He does not support a ban on the sale of all handguns," White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters during Tuesday's briefing.

Trudeau proposed new rules to significantly restrict the number of handguns in circulation in Canada on Monday, saying that "what this means is that it will no longer be possible to buy, sell, transfer or import handguns anywhere" in the country.

Well she's right that there's mass surveillance but hilariously wrong about the motive and purpose of that mass surveillance. It's ironic and insane too because these same "patriots" are usually the ones pushing for more defense funding and draconian laws to begin with.
