The White House Is Shifting Its Tone on Supplying Weapons to Ukraine
by Dan Friedman

Introduction:
(Mother Jones) President Joe Biden’s National Security Adviser said Sunday that the United States is giving Ukraine the “weapons it needs,” dropping a previous White House distinction between offensive and defensive support for Ukrainian forces.

“We’re going to get Ukraine the weapons it needs to beat back the Russians to stop them from taking more cities and towns where they commit these crimes,” Jake Sullivan said on ABC News’ This Week.

Sullivan made the rounds on morning shows Sunday, emphasizing the administration’s willingness to aggressively support Ukraine. On CBS’ Face the Nation, Sullivan credited US support with helping defeat Russian forces outside Kyiv. “Russia failed,” Sullivan said. “And they failed chiefly because of the bravery and skill of the Ukrainian armed forces. But they also failed because the United States and our partners put in the hands of those armed forces advanced weapons that help beat back the Russians.”

The Russians have retreated after nearly encircling the Ukrainian capital and are redeploying to focus on controlling the Donbas region in eastern Ukraine. Russia has appointed a new commander for its forces in Ukraine, Alexander Dvornikov, who is accused of previously overseeing the indiscriminate bombing of civilians in Syria, according to reports Sunday.
Don't mourn, organize.

Now it's crunch time. Russia will be up against high-tech weapons of all calibers.. They will loose. Have you noticed that Putin is not saying much anymore. Russia has two choices, pull out now or get kicked out.

There is a third option, if Biden and the Ukraine will let him get away with it: Declare victory and go home. "Home" to include an eastern part of what is currently considered to be a part of the Ukraine.

I don't see that as an option. Ukraine will not give an inch of land to Putin.

Any chance of this being an option (if it ever was), died with the civilians at Bucha.

Sadly, a very good point.

Putin is definitely going full tilt toward totalitarian rule. Giving him what he wants for the sake of peace is thus highly problematic. He "wants" to rule the world. Like a spoiled infant, he insists that we all honor that ridiculous wish.

People will draw parallels to Europe appeasing Hitler after he invaded Czechoslovakia leading to World War 2 if we let Putin get away with a "victory."

Which is why it probably won't happen this time.

I think we are more at the stage after Hitler invaded Poland. A red line has been crossed.

The problem for Putin is, he has shown his cards and they are bad. He can't rule anything. Invade Poland? Get crushed. Invade the Baltics? Get crushed. It's over.

Ther is that nuclear arsenal...

Edit: Also, in the sixties Nikita Kruschev blinked. It took a couple of years, but he was removed from power for his sanity. Putin may have created this bind that he is in...still...

I think it's too late for the nuclear option. It was never an option for the Russians, they are not that crazy. As they said, it's an option if there's an existential risk for Russia, but of course the west has no interest in attacking Russian soil.

France sends experts to investigate possible war crimes in Ukraine
Source: Axios

France announced Monday it sent crime scene and forensic experts to help investigate possible war crimes in parts of Ukraine previously occupied by Russian forces, including the town of Bucha.

Why it matters: Formal war crime charges are notoriously difficult to prosecute, but they are investigated as any other criminal act: through witnesses interviews, preserving photos, videos or other digital evidence and collecting forensic evidence, like DNA.

International assistance will help Ukrainian investigators gather and process evidence to determine who is responsible, potentially allowing prosecutors to bring cases against some specific members of the Russian military.

Since Russia has withdrawn from northern Ukraine, evidence has surfaced of atrocities committed in the Ukrainian town of Bucha while Russian troops held the town, including indiscriminate killings, torture and other violence against civilians.

Hello. Did you, guys, missed me? Definitely not. Yet I'm here, to look at your new posts. Old habits die hard and this is still interesting, in a way "what woke public thinks of this or that?" Don't worry, I'm not going to write my analytics here, just watching.

And while I'm watching, the job continues. I would gladly show you th is job's results, but for some reason the forum engine now blocking the telegram links. But no matter...

For the most curious (and not squeamish) ones, here is one of HUGE LOT such links. What remained of legendary (since war of 2014) Ukrainian "Checkpoint 29" position. Cruel, but fair and well deserved, I think. To watch, remove spaces before and after "t.me":

But strongly 18+

We don't want your propaganda, or the harm to our SEO.

Don't you feel ashamed to be Russian right now? Like, at all?

Your country's reputation has been trashed for at least the next 40-50 years, maybe even longer.

Yeah, I understand. Dangerous and disturbing thing, the major social network out of your censors control. I well remember how you (or caltrek) whined in old forum about "telegram is blocked in authoritarian Russia"... and look at yourself now. Pathetic!

What about you? Don't you at all ashamed to be Brit right now? After all the lies and propaganda efforts your country and you personally have undertaken to... ah well, no matter.

Anyway no, I'm definitely NOT ashamed.

Seriously, I fail to understand this: there were bastards who fiercely hated and did their best to harm Russia and Russians, our army calmly and professionally removed them from this damn world. These bastards can no longer kill or torture anyone, just peacefully lying on the ground and rotting. Do anyone seriously expect this to be a bad thing in my eyes?
